Hi, please can anyone help me with my dog? I got her at 6 months as a rescue, she had been living with a woman who was dying. She hadn't been socialised and was scared of everything. A lot better now - but she wees on the floor if you try to pick her up or tell her to go out in a hurry. She is ok with familiar dogs but will attempt to bite some strange dogs (she's on a lead to
prevent) All this we are trying to manage but it's not getting any better.
She doesn't like strangers in the house and a man came into the house yesterday unexpectedly and she barked and bit him - bruised him.
I need help on how to approach this in the right way to help her.
Any advice or reputable links (not Milan) would be appreciated.

At this level I would recommend an APBC behaviourist to visit, assess her and give you a tailored program to follow. I don't think links on the Internet are going to cut it with a dog this fearful.

I would suggest that as soon as possible though you find a safe space for her to go to when you have any visitors to the home. Ideally a crate that you carefully introduce and make a nice den where she gets lots of lovely treats etc. The law has now changed so that you could be prosecuted for her being dangerously out of control in your own house.
