It's breaking my heart - I just wanted to grab that stupid woman Vanessa and shake her. Those poor rabbits and kittens SadSad. I really felt for those dog wardens, it must be so frustrating knowing that they are powerless to do anything while those poor dogs and puppies are being mistreated AngrySad.

So sad.

Why would anyone knowingly own a pitbull though?

I've not watched this but will have a look on itv player.

I've known lots of people who've owned pit bulls in recent years and they have largely been lovely very friendly dogs, I've even had a couple of them in my house around my children Shock

I couldn't bear it when they put him in the bag - he was a lovely dog too, poor baby Sad.

Watching in tears very sad. How awful putting an innocent healthy dog to sleep. The woman called Vanessa is obviously mentally keeping all those dogs in terrible conditions.

Should be mentally ill can't see key board through tears.

Makes me mad as hell. It's not the dogs' fault- and pit bulls are not devils- they just need to be owned by the right owner.

One of my dogs is sat on my knee watching it and looking sad- and probably thinking how lucky he is!!

There needs to be some kind of strengthening of the law in that regard - adults with obvious learning difficulties and chaotic lives should not be allowed to abuse animals like this.
Why on earth would you have dogs and not walk them?? That's the whole point of having a dog isn't it?!

Recorded this and just watched it now.

God, horrendous, horrendous :(

I actually applaud the makers though, as they're hammering home the point that it ain't the breed so much as the owners.

And how ridiculous that the law dictates whether dogs live or die on the basis of measurements??

I was surprised as I assumed ITV would follow the Daily Mail school of thought...

I loved the girl in Birmingham, I wonder if that staffie runt surived...

I do think it should be regulated who takes dogs from the pound, and 'pit bulls' should be assessed on the basis of the individual dog. It's defined as a "type", how random is that? Expensive I know, but it's the right thing to do.

God, those dogs being PTS :(

I was talking to someone I volunteer with today about rehoming my new staffie x at the weekend. He was completely misinformed. "They're all aggressive, they're dangerous dogs, aren't they supposed to be shot if they're seen" Shock Mind you he later said he was bitten by a 'bull' type dog when young. He also said he saw some bloke kick his staffie across the road, so hard that the poor bloody dog was knocked out...

I'm sorry, I just feel despairing tonight, about the lack of human kindness to our fellow animals. Not helped I guess by watching the Louis Theroux documentary I recorded yesterday on strays in LA...

I've made it my mission to convert my fellow volunteer to the staffie cause ;)

It makes me realise just how much of a lifeline we throw these dogs when they are rehomed :(
