Recorded this and just watched it now.
God, horrendous, horrendous :(
I actually applaud the makers though, as they're hammering home the point that it ain't the breed so much as the owners.
And how ridiculous that the law dictates whether dogs live or die on the basis of measurements??
I was surprised as I assumed ITV would follow the Daily Mail school of thought...
I loved the girl in Birmingham, I wonder if that staffie runt surived...
I do think it should be regulated who takes dogs from the pound, and 'pit bulls' should be assessed on the basis of the individual dog. It's defined as a "type", how random is that? Expensive I know, but it's the right thing to do.
God, those dogs being PTS :(
I was talking to someone I volunteer with today about rehoming my new staffie x at the weekend. He was completely misinformed. "They're all aggressive, they're dangerous dogs, aren't they supposed to be shot if they're seen" Mind you he later said he was bitten by a 'bull' type dog when young. He also said he saw some bloke kick his staffie across the road, so hard that the poor bloody dog was knocked out...
I'm sorry, I just feel despairing tonight, about the lack of human kindness to our fellow animals. Not helped I guess by watching the Louis Theroux documentary I recorded yesterday on strays in LA...
I've made it my mission to convert my fellow volunteer to the staffie cause ;)
It makes me realise just how much of a lifeline we throw these dogs when they are rehomed :(
