My lovely 8 moth old pup has had diarrhea sine friday so i took her to the vets. She is also on day 16 of her season and is still bleeding.
The vet examined her and said her temperature is raised and her belly was making alot of gurgling noises. He gave her an antibiotic injection, a course of penicillin and some probotics.
He is concerned it could be pyrometra and wants to see her again on Thursday to possibly do an ultrasound.
I have just googled pyrometra and am now terrified.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this?

It s very, very rare in dogs less than a year old, I have seen one case in 17 years. That bitch was treated and is fine.
There is a lot of vomiting and diarrhoea around at the moment and I am seeing around 4 to 5 cases a day at the moment.

Thanks Lonecat, I have been so worried and have convinced myself its my fault for not getting her spayed before her first season.
I will just try to relax til Thursday.
