So we have pretty much decided on a whippet. Dh wants a pup. Please hit me with all things good and bad about them before I start looking at puppies :)

They are lovely, but please consider a rescue whippet - the rescues do have 3-6 month olds who come in. ELGR foster all their dogs so they do know them very well.

They have a gorgeous little whippet in at the moment who you can see on their FB page - Moomee I think she is

I know of one and she is beautiful in every way. She has a gorgeous nature, I want one! (She's a puppy.)

I've got a whippet border collie cross but looks like a whippet. She is wonderful so loving just wonderful. I've always had spaniels before but my whippet cross is very special. On the plus side she is amazingly affectionate loyal and loving. On the minus side she'll do anything for food and steals and when chasing anything totally ignores me. She thinks any ball being thrown is for her and because she runs so fast she usually gets to the ball before the rightful owner, it's a total nightmare when walking her. I agree about getting a rescue there are so many needing good homes.

My mil has only had her whippet a few weeks, she has all the positives mentioned by poorpaws but comes to call whether chasing anything or not, so no negatives to speak of as yet.

Not sure whether that's the norm though, I've got a jack rusell, and once she smells a rabbit you've had it! Was thinking the whippet would be the same, but amazingly she's not.
