Scrounging

RescueDog is an expert scrounger...he fixes me with his big sad eyes and gives me the look. I am doing my best to resist, he is definitely getting enough food as he is putting on weight. I'd welcome any tips to stay strong in the face of canine Jedi mind control!

Train a 'go to mat' for when you are eating Kikopup video

I have taught my boy to do it and find him on his mat randomly through choice.

We taught our dog to do this but I call it "Go away". Visitors think it's terribly cruel and sad Grin

RescueDog occasionally sits on the spot where I make him sit before getting his dinner. I think he's testing to find out if it's him sitting down that makes food appear....

I swear Happiestdog sucks his cheeks in to make him look thinner Grin. He has perfected the starved look.... Greedy Labrador :)

Haha, we used to have a wannabe Jedi. He had the starving-dog plus "Princess Diana Eyes" down to a fine art. Tried it on OH for longer than me... Maybe because it sometimes worked with him. Every time you give in, you reinforce the annoyingness.

Oh dear Sad ... Vet has just told me how important it is not to let him get fat.

Thanks for link, I've started training my girl with this. I love the excitement when they see the clicker.

My dog slinks under the kitchen table when we're eating. He usually gets sent out of the room. We carry on eating and suddenly there is a dog under the table again. No one saw him come in or felt him move. I have a ninja stealth scrounger.

Try ignoring the look my super-skinny Lurcher pup give me. (Top picture on my profile pics.)

It's a good job I'm a heartless cow or he'd be the worlds first obese Lurcher! Grin
