I have found an issue with cmotdogs lovely new meggie moo jumper. He does not want to take it off! Great reluctance this morning, theh when dh picked it up this evening to put it back on he threw himself onto dhs lap to get his head in.

Thanks WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt! Sorry you've had a lot going on, hope some of it was good! My two are settling well, loving running, peanut is upto 6 miles now without being totally exhausted. Lola still car sick but she's chewing and jumping less and much better on the lead.

Moosemama has been quiet recently, assuming she's busy with Pip :)

Sounds like mistlehound has been in the wars, she ran into a fence post and now has a lump on her toe. Hope she's come round ok mistlethrush.

She's still sleepy - but she's managed to get down the garden for a poo and eat a light supper and a chew and at the moment she's not bothering her foot at all. I am going to see if I can get her a waterproof boot tomorrow - at the moment I have an IV bag...

CMOT Sprocket is exactly the same, loves his Milgi housecoat, he always looks disappointed when I take it off in the morning!

My RL stuff has been a mixture of good and bad. DP has had a lot of crap going on with work, we had a nightmare holiday in Cornwall for a week with the IL's in a static caravan (no dogs!!). I went on a daytrip to Scotland with Lincs Greyhound Trust to visit Questhouse Kennels, a Greyhound breeder who has a litter of puppies who happen to be Sprocket's (and Scuttle's Andy's!) nieces and nephews 7 week old Greyhound puppies are so frikking adorable!! We spent the majority of the day sat in the puppies stable playing with them :o We had a big windfall which means we can finally afford to get married, nothing is arranged yet but I'm hoping for October 25th next year

So is everybody about ready for Christmas?

Cunny -have you sorted the dress code for the dogs yet? (Lets not beat about the bush, and get the important things straight!). Sorry Cornwall was not good - the idea of being stuck in a small space with DS has meant DH and I have never tried anything like that - we aim for a cottage as we can at least get DS off to sleep early and hopefully have some down-time in the evening that way.

Mistlehound managed to eat a light meal last night with no adverse effects - but she got up at 3am and seemed to think that she might need to go down the garden - once we managed to (eventually) get out with IV bag on foot, taped up, and lunge rein on collar (and coat over dressing gown for me) she decided that she perhaps didn't want to go down the garden after all - but wanted to sleep on the sofa. So I decided that rather than putting the cone of shame on her I would stay with her and she managed to settle with me also lying on the sofa beside her - then decided after a bit that was just too constricted so she'd try the bed in the hall, but I managed to persuade her back to her bed in our room (phew!) so rather a broken night's sleep last night. We'll get the results on Friday or monday.

Never mind my dress eh Mistle? For Sprocket I'm thinking something like those male stripper sets (bizarrely enough!) that have a shirt collar with bow tie and shirt cuffs. He won't need the thong though obviously :o That's if dogs are allowed to the venue we want!

I hope Mistlehound recovers soon, it'll be a relief for you, not having to be quite so watchful to make sure she doesn't lick! Fingers crossed that you get good news, you must be on pins!

I was worse yesterday - particularly as she seemed to take a while to come round. Her tongue was sticking out at the side when she wobbled in to see me when I went to pick her up - apparently the vet nurse had kept on sticking it back in on and off all day, but it kept on coming out again.

I know at least two weddings where the dogs have come along for the photos directly after the service. One was a family wedding (not close!) where the fox hounds that had been puppy walked by the family were brought along into the church yard and were waiting at the door - and there was a huntsman who blew his horn from the back of the church at the end of the service (they do drag hunts now)(but I've never done anything like that, not wanting to get into the pros and cons of hunting). For the other I saw some of the photos of the dogs in a similar situation after the church service - and dogs very happy to see the bride and groom (with little dicky bows, yes).

My mum made one of our family dogs a 'brides dog' costume - a little bonnet and a frill which she wore all of 5 mins in the garden before the service - other dog had to be kept away as she would have gone bonkers seeing the other dog 'wearing' something!

Peanut is much more chilled with the children but still wears a muzzle as he still snaps a bit when it gets noisy! He's still very mouthy with us when we get home and with Lola when they play but he seems to be settling into a typical greyhound! Lola is about 1 she was rescued from a puppy farm, whippet terrier cross. She's a loon but once you sit down she crashes on your lap and won't move until you do! Ds1 particularly loves her but she's great with all the kids and perfectly house trained which peanut still occasionally has trouble with.

Glad to hear mistlehound is eating even she's a bit out of sorts otherwise. Fingers crossed for your results.

Very exciting news about a wedding. Dressing the dogs up would be so funny.

So first visit to the vet today and I officially love him. He was so great with Dee and she warmed to him despite being generally scared of men. Also didn't charge me as he said the nail wasn't infected and it would be a lot of hassle to remove. He said watch and wait and bring her back if causing distress as it will take a long time for the crack to grow out but it's not a big enough split to warrant cutting off the claw.

I need to get Dee a bed for upstairs now I have decided to let her up there. At the moment she is sleeping on an old blanket next to our bed. Those of you that have upstairs dogs....what do they sleep on?

Folded duvets in charity shop duvet covers are by far the easiest and cheapest option, Sprocket used to sleep on 2 double duvets folded into 4 which were on top of a memory foam mattress, so he had the thickness of 8 duvets under him plus 3" thick memory foam (princess and the pea, anyone?). But now he just has a big plastic bed, with a fleece blanket draped around the sides to stop him scraping the plastic with his claws (not nice to hear at 2am!) with his memory foam mattress in it. We still have his duvets but we're sending one to the local Greyhound rescue and keeping one for the car. You can pick up duvets really cheap from wilkinsons, think I paid £7 for Sprockets 10.5 tog one!

Cinnamon if you're anywhere near Lincolnshire you're more than welcome to come to the wedding, I was/am actually half seriously contemplating inviting a random bunch of MNetters as I want a big fun wedding with lots of people but we hardly have any friends between us :(
It's so good to hear that Peanut is improving, let's hope the improving continues and he eventually grows up into a fully fledged Greyhound :o Lola sounds lovely, sad about her start in life though :( has she had puppies do you know? Excellent that she is fully housetrained, I'd heard PF dogs can be difficult to housetrain.

Mistle I had to laugh at the image of a dog in a bonnet :o I bet she looked silly and absolutely adorable :)
Wrt her tongue, a friend told me recently that dogs poke their tongues out at the side so they don't swallow them and choke, I don't know how true it is though.

My Cordura cover is being made and winging its way here soon. Hoping that Pooch likes it. Asda sell single duvets for £5 so I'd better get myself one to stuff in the cover.

Hope Mistlehound is recovering well from her op. I spotted on LL that hounds can react strangely to the anaesthetic Vet's use and I wondered how'd you'd approach this with the vet or do you need to find yourself a pointy experienced vet?

The gorgeous lovely Annie from LL has been rehomed. So happy for her. Sounds as though she is the perfect home. We are debating whether to hang fire on the pointy search for awhile. So much going on here currently, though Pooch had a play session with an escaped working lurcher this morning and she LOVED it. I thought the lurcher we going to knock me to the floor. The speed of the creature. Wow. It was a stunning chocolatey brindle colour and not small enough for a whip and not big enough for a grey.

I don't know if it's the same for all pointies but I know 'normal' anaesthetic can react badly with Greyhounds so they have to have the more expensive stuff, kind of like Tesco Value and Tesco Finest

Lola had no puppies, she was with the lady who rescued her a few months before she finally rehomed her as she said she was all over the place and felt she needed some training or no one would want her! I guess she was 8 ish months then so perhaps hadn't quite had her first season?
They are both brilliant with cats too, my Nelly would chase cats but never my own cats but peanut and Lola just wander up to cats and say hello although peanut has had a whollop because of that! We are in Suffolk so not too far from Lincolnshire, my il's live in Lincoln and Skegness (separated 4 years ago). Sprocket sounds very spoilt with all those duvets

I'm in Gainsborough so not far at all from Lincoln, less than 20 miles away! Lola sounds very lucky to have been rescued at that age and then trained up a bit. The rescuer had a point, most people don't want dogs with issues do they?

We also have a LL fleecy duvet cover. In fact, we've just got a 2nd to put the 'hall duvet' in as the fleece cover helps to keep the duvet under control - even through heavy digging sessions. This means that mistlehound doesn't end up perched on a heap or lying on a single layer having unwrapped the folded duvet. We also have a small fleece cover for a quarter of duvet that moved around - she likes having that on the sofa and it gives added protection and washability to the sofa too which is good. (we also have a LL cordura cover for the car so its waterproof and wipeable - this was really good to use when we went to an event and I sat on it with mistlehound to keep off the damp ground!)

We went for a gentle walk around the block last night in her PAH boot - she would have trotted but I kept her slow on purpose. We did quite a lot of stopping and looking for cats too - its apparently particularly exciting looking for them at night compared with during the day. Bandage coming off this evening.

Lola is a treasure but she was turned down by three lots of people before us because she was too bouncy :( I guess some people want a perfect dog to fit in quietly! She's much better with jumpin just because we only feed/fuss her when all 4 feet are on the floor :)

Does anyone have a boot liner? We walked with the lay we rescued Lola from last Thursday and she has a rubber boot liner for her car and recommended we get one to catch sick whenever Lola is sick.

Jumps onto the cushion early on for once! Heloooo, how is everyone, I have been on a bit of a MN break, life is chaos but I miss my pointy hounds. I am currently stuck on the sofa under whippety boy who has my lovely whippety puppy asleep on top of him. A whippet pile on .

Reminds me of beardies LostInWales, they make piles 6 or 7 high if they are living in big groups. They are such lovely pets, we will definitely have another one when dss's snake is no longer with us snakes are rubbish but very easy to look after.

Cinnamon - dbil has a rubber boot liner that I got for him on ebay - was v reasonable and as he has a lab and his partner has a spaniel its very necessary

We have the bootliner that we moved from the last car - it doesn't quite fit this one but its better than nothing - certainly good at containing most of the sand etc. We quite often have a cordura covered bit of duvet for mistlehound to sit on in the boot - although she's rarely in the boot - she travels in the passenger footwell for short journeys and on the back seat in her car harness for most longer ones.

misltehound was getting a bit overlooked as she was probably an escape artist and almost certainly not housetrained (she wasn't, although she's not tried to escape either - although she has gone over the gate and then wondered how to get back in...)
