Out of character behaviour of labrador...

My female lab (5 and a half) has recently started this whole whimpering thing on an almost constant basis. She has done it in the past eg. at feeding or walking or other exciting time, a bit of an excited whimper has always been quite normal. She now seems to do it almost constantly and it is driving us all crazy!

She is also reluctant to go in her bed which is very unusual. Same bed in same spot it has been for last five years but often i am finding her wedged against the opposite wall behind the door which again is very new.

She is a healthy happy dog, other than infrequent and mild epileptic fits which we are aware of and have been monitoring and managing for a couple of years. She is not on medication.

Any ideas what might have triggered these recent seemingly nervous type of activities? I am talking only the past few weeks.

Poor dog, she might be distressed about something. Is she spayed? Is there any pain anywhere? It might be worth getting her checked out at the vets in case there's any pain or health problem

I would be concerned that the nature of her epilepsy might be changing and take her to the vet for a thorough check-up.

I don't rush off to the vet constantly but the situation you describe would have me at the Vet.
