The doghouse

Does your dog tell you when to go to bed?

Mine does. He's an 11 year old miniature schnauzer and at around 11.05 pm will get up and come to wherever I am and look at me. If I don't come with in a few minutes he will start stalking about shaking himself irritably. If I still don't come he will take himself to bed but come to the stairs and peer at me at intervals. If I STILL don't come he will go back to bed but when I do come to bed he will immediately jump off and go to his basket in a sulk. If I come to bed when he tells me to he will stay happily on the bed for the night.

Just wondering if anyone else's dog does this? He even does it if we stay at other people's houses too Grin.

He sits in front of us from about midnight and if we don't go to bed he starts barking and making growly noises at us (in a nice way though)

My dog just used to get up at 10pm and take himself to bed. Not even as much as a backward glance at me.

My dog jumps on us as soon as the TV goes off as it makes a funny sound. Paws at either DH or I and demands she is carried to bed...

My dog always stood looking at me at a certain time until I went to bed.

He used to sleep on a beanbag in my bedroom.

I still miss hearing him shuffling around Sad

Sad. My boy is 11 and still lively but definitely slowing down. I can't bear the thought of him not being here. I am never alone and cope better being a lone parent because of him. I could not begin to express how much he has given me.

Sparklysilversequins, we have a miniature schnauzer too and he tells us when to go to bed.

I am currently sitting in his spot on the sofa where he sleeps and I know if I get up for even a second he'll move over and glare at me to go to bed. He likes to have a chew next to him when he goes to bed, it's like his comforter.

Mine sits at the bottom of the stairs staring at me, until I turn TV off.
He then goes to the top of the stairs and lays down with his head hanging over the top step, until I start to go upstairs.
He then runs into bedroom, leaps onto the bed and starts rearranging the duvet for me...... Grin

If he thinks I'm not getting the message he makes a grumbling sound!!!

Grin Mine scoots up to bed if she hears me lock up and start switching lights off.

If she has decided it's bedtime she just loiters near the bottom of the stairs giving me the big eyes until I go up. Then she gets comfy on the bed while I clean my teeth etc. The other dog gets on the settee once I've gone to bed, we all just pretend he sleeps in the dog bed.
