Ok so next monday we pick up our boy 8 week old yorkie.

So excited he is lovely

This will be our first family pet.

I have read everything and anything to do with yorkies, looked into pet insurance and vets in area so i know what he needs.

Been on pets at home in puppy section I think I have everything ready.

So anything I have forgotten? Any tips advice.to make him settle in well?

So excited

When we first got mine he was 8 weeks and we bought him a dog bed from build a bear. Was meant for teddy bears but he was so small he looked lost in proper dog beds! It done him for about 6 months. When we brought him home he was so good and a bit nervous, we let him wander around and have a sniff of everything and in a few days he was completely fine. Smile

I din't know if you have made plans for travel but ours (border rather than yorky) was teeny so we used a cat box rather than dog crate. We left him in there till he was ready to come out by himself...which was when he was ready for his first carpet pee Grin

We were incredibly lucky with ours too as he needed no settling at all, I popped him in his crate and he slept. He was the last to be collected mind and had already had a night alone.

Good luck!

Last night I popped him in his bed at 9pm snuggled.gim with his blankets he went straight off.

About 11pm I got up to check on him and just out him on the paper he did a wee then went back to bed.
We didn't hear a peep out of him all night, I kept getting up to check on him :)

7am I put him on his paper and he did a big wee wee

Brilliant. Mine was like that at night too. It makes dealing with the daytime lunacy much easier Grin

He really is so good .. so far.

No bother he Potters about if not in his pen thing or having cuddles. Kids are giving him plenty of exercise and he has even learnt how to give you his paw when asked.

Little cutie.

Ahhh just enjoy it until the baby landshark thing kicks in and the entire families clothes are shredded from the ankle down!

Mine is a Border not a yorkie but I love terriers, they are such little characters. Smile

He has already started trying to cling on to everything with his teeth I just say no and give him his chew toys.

My kids find it cute but im trying to encourage them not to let him because it won't be cute when his big teeth come in :)

No accidents yet either

The no accidents is very impressive.

Don't be disheartened or think he is bad when he does go through a bitey phase though. We went to our vets puppy party at 11 weeks and started puppy classes at 14 weeks and it was absolutely universal with every puppy present regardless of breed that they seemed to go through a horrible bitey stage. We all had holey clothes and ds hated him for a while. It does pass though. Smile I think 9 - 14 weeks was the worst when crossing my arms and ignoring him usually meant trying to walk with a savage thing attached all the time! He's not a year yet but thankfully all that seems an age ago now.
