Cross dog on private road.

As I understand it, private roads still have the legal standing of a public footpath or bridalway. So a dog attack wouldn't be classes as being on private land, it would be the same as if you came across him on a public footpath.

Local council are generally quite helpful with these kinds of things, so you could email them to check and ask them if anything should be done to prevent potential incidents in the future.

PS - I'm basing my understanding on the info that I received from my local council when I emailed them asking about the rules on walking my dog down a local private road.
