Today our puppy....

Annoyed me no end by;

  • Sticking his head inside every garden pot as I tried to pot them up with some spring plants.
  • Trying to eat said plants.
  • Running off with my peg bag that DS had left on the ground after hanging the washing out for me and scattering 1000 pegs everywhere! (my fault for not noticing it on the ground)
  • stealing my watering can and then treating it as his mortal enemy.
  • jumping up for treats in pockets at every opportunity on our morning walk with various people.
  • irritating his doggy friends by wanting to 'puppy play' the whole walk, usually this lasts 5 mintutes. I leashed him for a while in the end to give them some peace.
  • discovering fox poo, and liking it, and rolling in it. Doesn't he know it's my working day!!

However, today my puppy made me smile by;

  • Playing with a Comic Relief red nose until it stuck on him nose!
  • Trying to chase bubbles in a local stream for at least 15 minutes.
  • Trying to chase one particular leaf all over the local park.
  • recalling perfectly every time with a shed load of distraction.
  • doing his 'purring noise' when I came in from work for 10 minutes solid.
  • being generally ace Smile

What has your dog done today to either irritate you or make you smile?

Yep, gardening and puppies definitely don't mix!!! And it's only a matter of time before we're at the vets with a bee sting the way things are going!

My puppy annoyed me by
Waking up at 5.06 then going back to sleep on my lap on the sofa for at least another hour
Yelping at the stairgate whilst I tried to get DS into his Pyjamas and I ended up cross with DS for not hurrying up

But she made me smile by
Doing an over-excited wee both when I got home from work and when my mum dropped DS back home
Running full pelt back towards the car after our walk
Being brave whilst getting sniffed by 3 spaniels
Standing stock still every time a cyclist or jogger came past us
Trying to carry DS's foam sword which is at least 3 times her length

One of the first days I've had more smiles than grumps but then I was at work most of the day so I should really ask DH who has been in charge.

Today my puppy has annoyed me by waking up at 5.00 for a wee, refusing to go back into her cage and then going back to sleep on my bed, pretty much on my head and snoring in my ear.
Shredding everything she can get her teeth into.
Running back into the kitchen and weeing when I go to let her out.
Yelping every time she considered she was the wrong side of any door or stairgate.
Harassing the other dog to the point that she hid.

She has made me smile by having huge amounts of fun on our walk, all wriggly and silly in an attempt to charm total strangers.
Throwing herself into my arms and giving me puppy kisses every time she sees me.
Finding a stuffed rabbit bigger than herself and parading round with it.
Playing in the garden with our other dog, chasing each other round and round. Puppy completely unfazed that she is tiny and Rain is quite large.
Just generally being a bonkers puppy. :) I'm used to Curly Coated Retrievers who are large, fairly placid dogs and this little spaniel/lab cross is so different. Very entertaining though.

Glad it's not just me that smiles and groans in equal measure!!

Love the over excited wee and the 'wriggly' description Smile

Should have made the title 'Today our DOG.....' though..

Today my 11month old springer.....
Carried on chewing the shrub in the garden and digging to china.
Shredded his bed for the millionth time

But he also

Realised I haven't been well and snuggled on the sofa with me and had his head on my baby bump.
Didn't eat the cat

Today my 10mth old chi x
Started a scuffle with my other dog over a toy
Peed in my hallway (probably my own fault as time ran away from me)
Barked at the neighbour standing outside my house.

On a good note she
Was fantastic on her walk and recalled perfectly.
Nicely said hello to a strange dog
Didn't pull on the lead
Let me sleep in cuddled up with me.

My 18 week wheaten has been an absolute star this week she's managed to be on her own every morning while grandads on hols but to totally top that were finally getting somewhere with recall training our turning point was mon when she was still jumping up trying to play tuggy with the longline and she accidentally bit me i screamed in shock as it really did hurt and since then she doesn't try to play with the line as much which means she is getting a bit of freedom on it and today I finally let go (a big deal for me) and she was brilliant she always had half an eye on me and if I went to far she'd run after me, it was lovely to watch her face and see how happy she was although I did stand on the line if I heard anything coming I didn't want to expect too much of her

notonaschoolnight So glad to hear it's going well with the wheaten! What's her name, by the way? The biting must have been a big shock but it's sounding all positive now Smile

Thank you lady turmoil if today's anything to go by it'll be onwards and upwards Bixies not perfect at puppy class she'll act like she wants to play while stuck on the lead but the min she's allowed to play and the leads off she's just happy to stand back and watch the others which is a big improvement on being scared but I'd love to see her play but all in all when I think about how fab she is I'm very lucky
