Games and puzzles

Our dog is a 6 month collie cross and we play games with her like hiding treats under cups, she also loves (is obsessed) with balls. Our trainer has suggested these wooden puzzle games and a sliding door game by nina ottoson. They look fab but very expensive for something I'm not sure will get used.

So I wondered what other 'homemade' type games and puzzles you do with your dogs? I'm thinking things we already have in the house which we can make into a game rather than spending lots of money.

I have a red ball with two small holes that I push dry dog treats into. It's shop bought and cost around £3. It's made by Crisco. My dog has lots of fun rolling it around.

I haven't taken the plunge and bought any wooden games yet.

I have taught most of mine a variety of pointless and useless tricks with which to amaze people.
In themselves these can take ages as you break them down into small stages, practising each one until you have them so you can string them all together. For example we have "shoot, bang" where the dog will drop dead when shot, the sneezing one where the dog will fetch me a tissue if j sneeze and, my crowning glory, my rottie who on being given the command "fetch me a beer bitch" would trot off to the beer fridge, open the door and bring a can back :o
Very cheap, enjoyable for both parties and keeps the dogs mind occupied.
