Devil Dog has an ear infection. He has a dark discharge, similar to dried blood, coming from one ear. He's been to the vets who had a good look at him and was sure it is a simple infection. No swimming or baths for two weeks and a two week course of drops.
But he is acting very odd tonight. He is very quiet. Someone knocked at the door earlier and he did not react at all. He simply opened his eyes and then slept again. Normal behaviour is to either run to his bed and await his treat or if I am alone in the house and it's night time, he runs to the door and does his best impression of the worlds most savage dog.
He's also laying on my lap, this is a relatively new thing in itself, he only started laying on me around 18 months ago (we've had him almost 4 years now) but tonight is different, not only is he laying on me but he is pushing his head into my arms and nuzzling and demanding hugs and attention.
He is very quiet.
He is eating and drinking normally.
He is allowing his ear drops to be administered without so much as a grumble, which again is unusual, he normally reacts to pain by causing the pain inflictor great pain.
Do I start the biggest argument of all time and insist he goes to the OOH vets or is just feeling sorry for himself?

He's been for a walk earlier today and either feigned deafness or was actually struggling to hear and refused to recall away from the youth group that suddenly popped up in the usually deserted woods 
They had tennis balls
I had to call him back twice before he came.
It's only tonight he's gone quiet.
He still seems very quiet, but has eaten, was fine on his walk and did not attend any youth groups this time

He slept in my room last night.
It's just in the house he is very quiet and unusually affectionate.
