Dog not urinating after neutering - am worried

My 7mo Bichon x was neutered on mon. He has weed since then but irregularly and today he has only gone once, this morning. He went for a check up today to vets and all healing well - stupidly at the time I did not mention he wasn't peeing a lot and it hadn't been so long then. Should I be concerned? He is not exactly bouncing back after the op but the nurse said this was normal for some dogs. He is still on pain relief btw.

Oh, he hasn't drunk much today either, even though we keep offering. He is eating though.

Sometimes it takes our boy a while to pee after anaesthetic. Maybe give your vet a ring just to reassure yourself?

Pup didn't drink or wee much for 48 hrs after neutering but he did generally bounce back v quickly. I would also be giving the vet a call just to mention it.

Thanks spicy and Mitchell. He did pee this morning but really isn't himself and it's now day 4 post op :( . Vet nurse said some dogs just do take longer to recover but he's so sad and barely moving. I've started to regret having it done...

Aww, you didn't know it wasn't for the best. As the vets are open tomorrow why not call them ... you'll at least speak to your own (hopefully). Good luck, as you say he really should be perking up by now. Good luck.

I had my G.S x husky neutered on Monday. Took him back to vets yesterday. She said it may be getting infected and gave me a cone. But he hasn't urinated since last night before the cone went on. He wasn't weeing alot before that. He's not taking pain relief now. He's eating a little and drinking . Should I be worried

My youngest beagle was Neutered Tuesday and we're currently going through the blood-filled Diarrhoea and being sick.

All dogs react differently to the stress of being neutered and anaesthetic.

It's horribly to watch but they will bounce back eventually!

I would give the vet a ring like everyone else said to put your mind at rest :)

Hows the little Bichy doing? I had my boy done on Thursday and he is still moping around very subdued. He didn't pee from lunchtime yesterday but we just had a little walk and he peed. He's not eating though.

Vet checked him yesterday and said all fine. He's started licking the wound - I've got a suitical on him but he can push it aside a bit so he's got The Cone Of Shame on now.

Must admit it has knocked him around MUCH more than I thought :-( He's had anaesthetic before and bounced back very quickly.

Sounds like all quite normal though! Poor little boy!
