Or a cat. I'm not quite sure. I'm swaying more towards a dog because i look after my parents dog sometimes and im so used to him that i feel like im more of a dog person.

I have a 5yr old DD. Live in a small 2 bed house with a good size garden. Just a bit set back from the main road. I dont work a lot of hours (2-4 voluntary 2 days a week) but when i do move into more hours of work obviously it'll be in term time hours so ill need a dog that is ok on its own for a while. Depending on where ill be working i could pop in on my lunch break just to break the loneliness. At first i looked at all the ones i love. But realised they'd probably be far too big for my house and judging by my parents dog (hes a newfoundland) i know all too well that my house is too small for a newf. I dont want a really small dog. I dont want a massive dog. I just want around average size. If thats possible. Any advice?

I'm desperate for a dog but am too worried about my work hrs. I could go home for lunch but it's not guaranteed.

Average size..have you had a look at rescue centers. I've been drooling over them for ages.

I have looked at both puppies and older dogs. I had a bad experience with a dog my parents brought as a rescue dog so i am wary but would on the other hand be better off with an older puppy maybe.
