I've not been on pets before so Hello!!

I have a friend in a pickle, she needs to rehome a one year old golden retriever, he's lovely and I can PM more details to any who's interested or knows anyone who maybe but what a rubbish time to rehome eh so I said I'd help out and ask around?

He's got recall, is house trained but is in need of a firm hand, and some more training.

The poor boy is based in the south east

Thanks!

I posted on your other thread.

If your friend got him from a responsible breeder then she should rehome the dog back to them. Otherwise, I'd suggest going through the breed rescue in the South East.

Please do not attempt to rehome this dog privately or any way except via a good rescue.

I have some contacts in golden retriever rescue. What a shame that he needs a new home but he has youth on his side so hopefully his forever home will come up quickly. If you'd like me to help then please let me know.

Yes do suggest she asks the breeder to take him back (if she hasn't already).

No guarantee they will, of course, but it's worth asking.

1mitchellmum breeder won't take him she's just called the vets and Bluecross so he's on a waiting list for rescue Sad Oh now I wish I had the space to foster him.

I'm more than happy to contact people on her behalf if you email me (privately) some more detail. Particularly location, telephone number, why he's needing rehoming (no judging going on, just to know if there's particular things to look out for) and if there's a deadline for rehoming (for example if they're emigrating etc. etc.) I can't offer a guarantee but I'll do all I can to help.

Hmm - dh says two dogs is enough, so I can't offer to rehome this dog.

I have 2 myself as well!

In this house we have a simple equation that determines how many bikes we need - apparently it is 'One More'. I think this should apply to dogs as well. Dh the old meanie disagrees.

In all seriousness, I hope this dog finds a good, forever home.

Grin - well it's looking hopeful we have three people / friends who are asking the right questions, the story behind him is of a family who underestimated the fact he would need love and exercise - and have put house proudness above the needs of this chap, in fairness they are doing the right thing rehoming, just as shame they didn't think harder a year ago.

So glad to hear that people are interested in homing him. If Pupiranha wasn't so young I'd be very tempted myself.

His story sounds very much like that of my sadly missed Goldie who I was just talking about on another thread. We homed him at 6 months from friends of friends so that he didn't have to go into kennels.

He had been bought as a puppy by a family who didn't realise how much work a large, active dog would be and that a 10 minute walk, on lead, up to school wasn't going to be enough exercise, how much mess he would make, how scared the young children would be by his nipping and how much destruction can be wreaked upon a kitchen by a bored, teething pup who doesn't like being left alone from 9.30 to 3.30 every week day. that describes his situation absolutely - combined with someone who is house proud and scared of his biting nipping ways.

Glad to hear that there's some interest. Yep, you can't be houseproud if you have dogs but at least they're thinking about the problem now - it's usually hard to rehome elderly dogs (though to be fair there's always someone who'll have an elderly golden). I wish the dog well in his future home.

Well quite GoldenOrange, I think I might go out of my mind as well if I was shut in a kitchen all day and was only taken for a short walk!

I hope the dog finds a suitable home goingupinsmoke

If this is the same thread I remember the dog was rehomed with a behaviourist not too far outside the area within 72 hours.
