The doghouse

Is it the right thing to do?

Hello Doghouse.

It's been a while! I need your advice.
I dont know if any of you will know me but I used to be a regular to the doghouse but recently life got in the way and sadly my Ddog1 passed away earlier this year and I couldn't really bring myself to talk about it much.

Anyway, I have a dilema of sorts.

A friend (I use the term loosely) is going to rehome her dog. I have tried until I am blue in the face to get her to do it through a reputable rescue but she isn't having any of it.

I was dicussing it with DH last night and he said he would rather we have him than her sell him through the likes of preloved and what not and that's got me thinking...

I dont know whether to take him. Ddog2 has been quite lonely since Ddog1 left us. She's even taken to try and snuggle with the cat Hmm

She's planning to put an ad up on preloved or gumtree today at some point and i'm not the verge of telling her not to.

What do you think?

Well, what do you think? Do you want this dog? Will it be a good fit with your other dog?

He is a very lovely boy. He is young and a bit jumpy but nothing too bad.

They've met quite a few times on days out etc and get on fine.

I dont think I would have thought about another dog so soon but I dont think I can stand to see him sold on to just anyone iyswim.

We've all heard horror stories about what happens to dogs brought from those sites.

You waaaaant hiiiiiim Grin Take him. Give him a brilliant life. And threaten your friend that if she ever buys another dog you will hunt her down. Or set MNers on her.

Oh dont worry Chickens.

I've pretty much told her exactly what I think about what she has done to him.

I know it'll be hard work as he's only young but I've done it twice I can do it again, right?

Go for it. I have an aunt who wants shooting for stuff like this, obtains free dog, too much hassle etc or vets bills cone along and she gets rid, three months later another dog on the scene. Does it with kittens too, had cat, cat got pregnant had five kittens, one died, but five cats too much so rehomed them all, three months later two new cats both female, can't afford to have speyed etc. I don't get it.

Anyway now I've mini ranted, I think you should tell us your new dogs name. :)

I say go for it, but then I am not sensible and would have every dog going if I could Grin

So what is your new family members name ?

Do it-or you will always wonder what happened to him ( i now have 3 dogs for a very similar reason!)

Doitdoitdoitdoitdoit!!!

Disclaimer: I'm totally sentimental and irrational where dogs are concerned, and took on a rehome of a jumpy young boy a year ago myself (and now he's gorgeous and well behaved and has only been to the vet once this week for raiding the bin and eating tinfoil).

You don't really have a problem, do you? Smile Other than being 'friends' with idiots... WTF wouldn't she use a proper rescue, is it that she wants money for him?

If for some reason it doesn't work out e.g your other dog doesn't get on with him as well as you expect, he'd be your responsibility to rehome and you'd do it properly and so he'd still be better off than what this woman is planning.

Do it

(From someone who took a totally unsuitable Rescue Rottie for a walk and never took her back!)
