Novice dog owner here. We brought our adopted dog home two days ago. I thought I had found a good place for training classes but it is furtehr away than I thought and might not work out depending on when the classes are held. Is there an organisation or a national website which advertises dog training classes? My dog is not very good at meeting other dogs when she is on the lead. Is this going to stop us from being able to go to group training classes? She is fine off lead in the dog park.

We're doing our best to muddle through with training her ourselves. I have 'The idiots Guide to positive Training on order' (as was recommended on here) What kind of treats do you use when training your dogs?

If you look on the Kennel Club website, they have a list of places that offer the Bronze, Silver and Gold Canine Good Citizen Classes. That would be a good place to start.

Treats - mix of low medium and high value in the same bag, dog doesn't know which one he's getting so is up for performing for a chance of chicken
Low value - www.petsathome.com/shop/puppy-coachies-training-treat-by-the-company-of-animals-26862
Medium value - www.petsathome.com/shop/wagg-sensitive-dog-treats-125gm-30055 or www.petsathome.com/shop/natures-menu-dog-treats-with-chicken-60gm-13118
High value - cooked chicken, cooked ham, hotdog, sausages
I have a wee hip bag that my hubby slags rotten but its practical and stops your pocket from stinking. www.petsathome.com/shop/training-treat-bag-58495

'Word of mouth' is usually the best advertising. Try to get chatting to other owners in the dog park while your dog runs around like a loon with theirs, and ask. Especially any with notably well behaved dogs Grin
