The doghouse

Does anyone else like the smell of their dog?

I don't mean when he's been rolling in something disgusting Grin or has been out in the rain and whiffs of wet dog, I just mean his normal doggy smell. He follows me round all day and I like it when I can smell him, it's cosy and reassuring Blush I'm distinctly odd aren't I? Grin

I love it Smile

Especially the pads of his paws.

I also like the smell of dd2's hair, and - oh wait, maybe I'll stop there Grin

Yes, another one here. Blush We have three and they each smell subtly different. When one of them comes back from her hydrotherapy, there is a very powerful chlorine smell and it takes a couple of days for her normal aroma to return. Definitely something very reassuring about it, though I don't like the house to smell "doggy". Cue much busy housekeeping and a variety of scented candles though that's more to do with the farting. Yes, I do. I find it comforting.

Yes!! Whippety lurcher is thin coated and thus does not pick up that damp doggy smell our cocker used to stink of. In fact The Pointy One does not smell doggy at all - he smells of 'us', our furniture, our washing powder etc.
I also love the slightly wotsitty smell of his pads.

I love snuggeling up on the sofa with him, burying my nose in his fur and just snuffeling. Mmmmm, love my dog...

My dog smells lovely and I love the smell of him. He smells of comfort and cuddles and love. I love my dog too.

I do try to avoid the smell of him on things though. I wouldn't like my sofa to smell of me in particular and I feel the same about our lovely dog. His smell of dog is lovely on him but not elsewhere.

God no. It's foul - I hate it.

Do you think this is because I have a love/hate relationship with Dill?

Yes! Especially the tops of their heads. Two labs and a boxer.

Aha soupdragon I have just been thinking about you as I have just made your flapjack recipe. It has made the house smell divine and would, indeed, mask all doggy odour in yours if you were in need of a solution.

poor dill Sad

IN her ears? Yuk!

But yes, paws are like popcorn. And dd's head is like candyfloss in the mornings. I must have a sweet tooth...

I was going to make a jokey comment based on the fact that I"ve just made flapjacks too. Then I saw your last comment.

thanks for making me feel shittier about my relationship with Dill than I do already. Fabulous.

Oh no Soup I didn't mean it like that at all. I am so sorry. That was not my intention at all. Blush I was just teasing. I didn't know there was a real issue. I am very, very sorry Soup. Sad

OMG - yes popcorn paws! I've never smelt their paws before (until just now - dog thinks I'm looney sniffing her feet as she lies next to me on the sofa!) but I love the smell of my dogs when they are clean and dry. I hadn't thought of it before but it is comforting and just makes me want to cuddle up all evening.

Yes! Me and DP both love the smell of our doggy!
Her head and some bits of her body smell of malted milk biscuits and her ears smell of honey! :)
She's a staffy so has short hair!
I have never smelt her paws though! Might give it a go :)
