Dog walking - Epsom Downs

Hello all.

Have been looking for bigger parks or places locally to walk the VirgoDog. Anyone go to Epsom Downs?

Have had a look at the website and the rules are understandable about separate areas for walking and the racehorse training. Guidance also says that dogs should be under close control. Does this mean on lead always?

Just wondered if anyone else walks there and is this the case? Can't really see the point of exercising there if you can't let the dog off for a run. VDog has good recall and is not bothered about horses btw.

Any recommendations for good dog walking places around here would be appreciated. Have been to Nonsuch Park, which is great but would be good to have a bit of variety.

Cheers dogpeeples. Smile

Hi i ride and walk the dogs on the downs. You are best of to stay away until 12.30 when all the race horses are off. When we walk we have a nine dogs off the lead and it is fine there is plenty of places you can go so you are away from the horses. It can get very busy at the weekends though especially if its windy and you get lots of kites and remote planes.

That's great advice. Thank you for that.
I shall give it a go.

If I see someone on horseback with nine dogs - I shall give a wave. Grin
