Our twelve week old keeps biting...sometimes in play, but other times in anger. She growls too.

Any tips on how to stop this?

Let out a Yelp like a puppy when it bites -it'll get a fright, they usually stop growling as they grow up

Wordfactory- it's a bit of an effort but in the new puppy thread there is a load of advice as we have all been there and struggled with puppy biting.

A yelp does work but if not then try removing pup to a time out type place just long enough to let pup know if this behaviour happens, play and/or interaction with us stops.

It takes a while and at times o felt nothing worked but it's always handy to have a plan! This phase will as with all these things pass!

Thank you so much for replying.

I will do yelping (can't help it when she sinks those teeth in LOL) and put her in time out...probably the utility room.

yelp (or barky type no) and then turn away from puppy (you could fold your arms and physically turn around) - puppy will then slink off looking a little bereft - pay lots of attention when quiet and nice - consistency from every member of family is key

try to avoid rough-housing or tug-of-war type games to begin with as this just encourages puppy play (which is mouthing and biting)

I'd aviod picking up and moving elsewhere - too much immediate attention form behaviour you want to stop

it'll take a couple of months

make sure he has lots of chew toys (stuffed kong in freezer is a good one) and praise chewing on the right things
