Oh god, the guilt!

Harley had weepy eyes for the last few days. I thought it was just that he has got sand in them or something like that. But DD just noticed that his right eyes is red and partially closed.

Vets tomorrow but please someone tell me it isn't too serious

I'm not a vet so can't advise, but just to say good luck at the vets tomorrow. Maybe it will just need eye drops to sort it out.

If he's anything like us humans it's probably an infection. Nasty but easily cured as long as it's not left.

I hope he's okay, dogs do daft things like this to worry us all the time, don't stress. :)

That's the problem with dogs. They can't tell you when they've hurt themselves.

My girl managed to rip off a patch of skin and hair from her chest. I was horrified when I saw it and I worried how long it had been like that. In reality she probably did it not long before, when we'd been at the beach. She probably caught herself on a rock. But you can't help feeling awful you didn't notice sooner...

My dog managed to scratch his eye at the weekend on a bit of pollen or something. Took him to the vet's yesterday (dog only likes to go at premium times ) and the duty vet gave me some antibiotic drops to put in three times a day - it should clear up in about 2 days, he thought. I asked if my poor dog was in any pain and the vet said, 'Well, if it were you or me we'd be rolling around, roaring in agony, but dogs have very different pain receptors around their eyes.'

The fact that my dog was straining excitedly at the lead, trying to barge his way into the dispensing area of the surgery suggested that he wasn't totally focused on his ocular agonies...

Fingers crossed the vet fixes it all tomorrow.

Harley was as polite as could be expected in the circs. He didn't want to get angry with us but his eye was sore and the vet kept trying to touch it. Vet had to muzzle him but he was adamant that Harley was a lovely good-natured dog and was only reacting to the pain. His eye looked dreadful. He dropped some local anaesthetic in it (eventually) and then some antibiotic stuff. It looks better already but we have to use the drops 4x a day and take him back it it's not better in 48 hrs.

He also said that the Harlster was a 'stunner' and he wished more people would realise you don't need a pedigree to get a lovely dog

He reckoned that it might have happened before hence the reaction to the treatment.

I'm so glad to hear that Harley's problem isn't serious, poor little love. I hope that the pain's gone and the ABs are doing their stuff.
