On August 13th we will be geting an 8week old Patterdale Terrier bitch. She is black all over apart from a sprinkling of white hairs on her chest (see my one and only pic on my profile if you want to go 'ahh!' My DH and 3DS have so far been useless at suggesting names (DH's suggestion was 'shithead' - see what I mean?) and DS has suggested 'Peanut' - not a bad name in itself but not for a black dog! I quite like Millie. Anyone have any other suggestions?

see, I liked Pepper, but everyone I mentioned it to said 'what? as in Peppa Pig?'. So now I'm not so sure...

Bloody Peppa Pig Grin. Why would you name a dog after a pig? Pepper is a lovely name for a dog.
Ebony
Onyx
Jet
Dahlia (the Black Dahlia) Wink

Rosie
Millie
Mina
Izzy

We have a black dog called Inca, sort of started as she looked as black as Ink then thought Inka then changed that to Inca. Good luck with new puppy.

not had a dawg in the house since we lost our old boy back in October - he would have been 16 last week. Having a puppy again will be interesting to say the least!

Dh's family always name their dogs after Scottish Islands, so our puppy is Sula, other options might be Ailsa, Islay, Skye, Cara, Jura, Iona etc

I like Pepper for a name, esp given her colouring.

My advice would be to avoid any common human names- I find it strange when you can't tell the difference between pets and childrens names in a family (I appreciate that your children are boys though!)

I love pepper, I had a pony when I was about 10 called pepper because she was black with a little bit of white, she was lovely and very well behaved so it must be a good omen. patterdales are a lot of fun, and she looks so very very cute.

Awwwww how sweet is he! I also like pepper. We know a black lab called pudding which I think is gorgeous, also like pickle. Ours is Maggie, called her that because her breeder called her Agatha which I hated but wanted her name to be similar. Agatha - Aggie - Maggie!

ooh, I like pudding! And she already has a massive arse (probably why we bonded so well Wink) so that would fit!!!

Patterdale is near Penrith - so how about Penny?
There's Lots of Becks in the area - Becky?
In the lakes so something watery - Mere (Mia), Tallulah (means leaping water), Inna (meaning strong water)

She's sooooo cute!

Our Patterdale/Border cross is similar sounding in colouring, and we called her Pepper...well, I say 'her', but we thought she was a boy. Until, er, she had her first season Blush. Good job it's a unisex name Grin

Did the lack of a willy not give it away BoF? Liking the link to the Lake District - we honeymooned there gazillions of years ago. Thinking Wasdale Head not the best name though. May have to do a bit of research on that one..

I didn't like to look Grin. And I thought she peed like a girl just because she was a baby. I am still Blush

spooky! was at a mates yesterday talking about this. Asked DH and he said 'don't care, it's your dog!' Thank you for your help dear. Not. I am still undecided between Millie and Pepper, so we are going to have a family vote and go with the majority... Voting tonight, will let you know tomorrow (oh the suspense!)
