Dog advertised free to a good home - WWYD?

There is a 2 year old American Bulldog bitch advertised free to a good home in our shop window, good with children, other dogs etc. My DH saw the man putting the same ad in another shop window and got the impression he wouldn't put himself out too much to make sure it went to the right home.

I feel I should at least ring the man and try to persuade him to find a place for her at a no kill rescue so she has the chance to find the right home - it would be the right thing to do wouldn't it?

If I do this I would really like to give him some options in case he just can't be bothered to do the leg work. Do any of you rescue workers know of any good shelters in the Kent area (dog advertised in Sittingbourne) or where I can go to research rescue centres myself?

i cant help with rescues but just wanted to say i have done similar to what you are suggesting myself. when people want just rid Angry of their animals it helps to get them to co-operate if you make it as easy as possible for them. if you can i would offer to drive dog/arrange transport to rescue too. some people dont want to face up to what they are doing and want an easy way out

Thanks, I will happily sort out transport. I go on holiday for a week on Wednesday so feel the pressure's on a bit although if I can get some good possibilities he may agree to wait until I get back.
