Best food for my dog's teeth?

I have recently found out that my dog has gum disease and as a result I am thinking of changng her food. She eats a mixture of wet tinned food and dried food. I stupidly didn't really realise that this could be damaging her teeth, so I would like to try her with a dry complete food, preferably something that she needs to work quite hard at chewing to help clean her teeth.

Can anyone recommend anything that would be particularly good for her teeth?

By the way she is a 4 yr old spaniel. I am going to get her teeth cleaned at the vets (at great expense) and also plan to give her more bones and chews to help her clean her teeth.

Thanks in advance.

This is big and crunchy and really good food to boot. The chicken is bigger and harder, though my dog prefers the lamb but is quite fussy.

I would highly reccomend giving raw chicken wings a couple of times a week as one of the best teeth cleaners possible. In face a raw diet generally is very good for the teeth.

I second the raw chicken bones... in fact any raw bones really.

I often get those huge turkey legs from tesco's it's a meal in itself, lots of meat and a biggish bone in the middle

Thirding a raw diet, or at the very least raw bones a few times a week.
