I love the dog we have had him for 4 years now we took him in after someone placed an ad and said they didn't have time to give him a quality life.

He was a year old then and instantly became a member of our family.

He hates getting left alone which was something the previous owners failed to tell us and although I am in most weekdays I have to do the schoolrun which takes an hour and everyday I come back to poo and a puddle and it is really getting me down now.

I have taken him to the vets, left the radio on,tried a calming plug in I just don't know what else to do.

He is walked twice a day for at least 20 mins a day and has full access to the garden when we are in.

I changed his food to dry on the vets advice and he always has water.

I am now facing problems from my landlord who was fine with us fetching the dog but is now mentioning that there is a discolored patch on the floor where he usually does his buisness :(.
My neighbour who is lovely has also said that as soon as I go out he starts barking and it dosen't stop.
I am worried about my baby picking up germs too as she is crawling around.

I love my dog so much but I am fed up of this problem now :(.

Sounds like you need a behaviour therapist for him.

Sorry to ask a really obvious question, but do you walk him before you do the school run?

Yes Jareth he is walked by DP between 7 and 8.

It is the afternoon school run he is left for as DP does the morning school run before work.

Cargirl- I don't think I can afford one right now.

Does he have a crate, would it be an option to try that?

You've tried all the usual leaving him with long lasting food like kong and walking him again just before the afternoon run?

It may help to start getting your dog used to being alone when you are not in a hurry to go out. The school run is (for us anyway) a time to be in a flap. One of our dogs pees on the floor bloody animal. We've been told that it's a thing going on between him and our pup over who's in charge.

Can you leave the dog in a different place in the house? Confine him to somewhere where he hasn't peed? To clean up, we have been reccomended Simple Solution from Pets At Home. Biological soap is a useful alternative. Apparently it has the right enzymes in it.

You need to do something to break what has become a habit.

Do you mean 20 mins a day in total?

What breed/size is he?

My dog who is crate trained had this problem if he was left out of his crate and left at home alone. He would poo by the front door. I think it was anxiety. He didn't do it if he was left in the crate and seemed happier and less anxious after being left in the crate so he is just left in there now.

Perhaps you could try crate training. Then, as well, if he makes a mess at least it is contained in the crate. He is unlikely to however, as they really hate toileting in their own space/bed.

Op, just seen your reply to CarGirl.

They really aren't very expensive on eBay.

I have one like this and have not needed to replace it so far.

Oops I just realised your comment about not being able to afford one was about a behaviourist rather than a crate. Blush

Still, the link might be helpful!
