Poor thing! He fell off the bed on Friday morning and staggered and fell about, his eyes wandering. His belly was bloated and his tummy was making odd noises. He looked awful.
I spoke to the vet and took him in and told the vet about his eating 5oog of uncooked bread dough. He agreed that the dough probably wasn't doing him any good, but it wasn't entirely clear that it was causing him to fall about, so he suggested it might be something neurological. He went off to speak to another vet and returned with the news that our lovely dog was drunk.
Poor dog spent the day nursing a hangover with a gurgling fermenting tum, and drinking water for Britain!
When my late bitch was about 16 weeks old, we thought she was behaving herself, when in reality she had drunk 2 pints of cider very quietly. The owner of said drink thought he had drunk them and had refilled.
My old JR bitch drank the best part of a pint of Stella from a handled glass (wide top old fashioned one, she got right in there ) and bit the Ex when he noticed and tried to stop her. She was very grumpy later.
My Labrador is a fan of socks and pants too. He usually passes the socks in a nice, long 'string' but unfortunately one got stuck earlier this year. £1000 later, he recovered well from his op with a nice 4" scar along his abdomen to show for it!
Yup, we've had a drunk labrador. Ages ago we had a house warming party and since we were a bit short of furniture there were lots of people sitting on the floors with their drinks beside them. Nobody noticed that the dog was wandering about helping herself until quite late on.
She spent the next day lying in her bed with her head under her paws looking very sorry for herself!
What goes in... Our pup has eaten far too many pots of face cream. Luckily they're only made of edible things, but he's pretty persistent. Jars, tins, plastic pots.... He has a liking for Nivea as well. Nutter
