Was actually crying the other day because I finally got to meet a bloodhound

I love this dog breed and although I have never met one Sad I go on forums to read about their behaviour and have photos dotted around. I just love everything about them their looks temperament and personality.

I have always wanted one but as I had never met one didn't feel it was right to get one without having seen their size. I also looked for rescues but I was unable to find one. But I met one while walking my own dog. The man thought my bahaviour was very amusing but I was just so chuffed to actually see one . He was very patient with the nutty lady who was giving his dog loads of attention and asking him loads of attention.

What is your faverite breed of dog and do you own one? if not why? Or feel free to post and tell me to get a grip [hgrin]

It was Staffordshire Bull Terrier. No I don't own one. I went to adopt one from the local pound. I had to take the children with me. dd1 fell in love with a fluffy white terrier. He had but days left to live Sad. He is now safely snuggled up on my sofa.

I intended to foster SBT's after x-mas. But we were told of a Whippet puppy who was going to drowned that night if she did not find a home. She came to us for 'just a few days' while we looked for a suitable rescue place to take her. That was two months ago.

Saying that I can now see why people who buy 'just one' Whippet, end up with 6! I might have a new favourite breed. But I will always have soft spot for a staffy.

As my user name suggests - lurchers do it for me! Luckily for me (sad for them) there are usually plenty in rescue so I've always been able to adopt one that one. However, I also love, love love great danes - have never had one, mainly because I feel morally obliged to get rescue dogs. But one day I would love a GD puppy. The kennels our dog sometimes stays in when we're on holiday breed them and they are the most beautiful dogs - I always drool over them when we go.

I love springer spaniels. I love the way they are so eager to please, so happy (waggy tail and bum) and they are easy to train, apparently.

I do own a lovely springer spaniel who is 4 months old. He doesn't have the waggy bum yet and can be a bit stubborn at times but he is gorgeous and is my baby Smile we are doing puppy classes at the moment and he has mastered everything we have taught him so far. (well not the lead pulling but we are working on that!)

I know a couple of blood hounds, they have the same colouring as my springer.

We used to have a staffie she was a big softie [hsmile] I am unsure what a lurcher actually looks like. Kid springer's are up there on my faverite dog breeds. I cant believe you have seen two bloodhounds they seem really rare.

They live near me (not together) one is called Florence but I can't remember the name of the other one. They are surprisingly bouncy and lively around my puppy!

For me it's Wolfhounds.

Now I'm out of here before Bedlam comes on and tries to talk me into one again [hgrin]

I love Wolfhounds too, our friend's mum breeds and shows them.

My absolute favourite breed is the Border Terrier though, but we don't have any dogs at the moment due to the presence of a cat in our house and our work commitments.

Bedlam!!!!

You are incredibly naughty [hgrin]

Good list though. Would probably only strike clumbers off it

I read your '25 stones' as kilos. Tell me I was right. Please [hgrin]

I will get a Wolfie one day. I know I will. The call is too strong. Have never felt this way about any other breed. Now would be disastrous though [hsad]

And everybody else who spoke out in favour of Wolfhounds is very naughty too! [hgrin]

Jack Russell Terriers. Our rescue boy is such a loving crazy little softie, no intrest in children or other dogs but adores sleeping beside you underneath the duvet and running in circles at 60mph much to our amusement. Grin

Staffies! It's the big staffy smile, just makes me melt!

Bloodhounds are gorgeous, there's a gentleman who walks one early in the mornings when I'm on my way to work, he is very handsome (dog not gentleman... gentleman isn't bad actually Wink).

Love all terriers, especially scruffy looking ones!

Greyhounds and whippets I also have a soft spot for.

And I do love the "misunderstood" breeds such as GSDs and rotties (and staffies of course), oh, and would LOVE an English bull terrier, but I'm not allowed any more dogs. Grin
