I was absolutely disgusted, the only meat that i eat is chicken, but after what i saw last night, I am now seriously considering going vegetarian.

Bubs, totally off topic, have seen you post for ages and last time, was when the weight loss was going really really well,

Am I talking to a lot lighter BDV?

Saw the first half, was gagging, truly vile - Even worse than Wife Swap (sarcastic emoticon)

And if I have got you mixed up with somebody else I am really sorry {blush}

I saw some of the programme. I had seen lots of things before about intensively reared chicken, and don't buy it. But for all I know the supermarket organic, free range and 'corn-fed' may well be just as bad.
It did make DP and I turn to each other and say 'lets get back into doing poper cooking all the time!'
I usually think ready-meals are too salty for my taste, anyway. And rather 'gunky'. But we do eat a few.

What happened in the first half? i saw it from when they were tasting different steaks, then they moved on to look at chicken-farming.

Hiya kalex, thanks for asking, weight loss has stopped, i am practically certain i've put it back on. I SERIOUSLY need a kick up the arse as I am getting chest pains and pains down one arm but can't seem to do it.

Blu. they checked all the chickens from the four main supermarkets and they each had AT LEAST half pint of fat in them, because of the food they give the chickens to grow so quickly, basically saying that white meat isn't healthier afterall, as most supermarkets add brine to pork chops etc to keep them moist after they have been grilled.

I watched it and it has only stiffened my resolve to buy as little as we can from supermarkets.

So today we have been to the the greengrocers to buy fruit and veg, to the health food shop for dry bits. Been to wilkinsons to buy pet food and toiletries, cleaning products.

Hoping I can keep it up and that it doesn't prove to be much more expensive as we are on a budget.

have been buying at farm shops for some time now and make a special trip to a butcher who raises his own free range chickens and lambs every two weeks.
We eat less meat as it is more expensive, but tbh we have not even noticed as we are now so used to using other foods to cook with.

I think it's horrific what the farmers are prepared to do for money. Old Mr Bernard Matthews & his disgusting turkey this, that & the other is the same - profit, profit, profit, with no thought to the impact on the families that buy it or the animal welfare.

BOYCOTT THE LOT OF THEM I say

And no, of course I don't buy any of it. I wouldn't even feed it to my cat.

In fact, next week, I'm going to visit the '4 major supermarkets', find a chicken with HOCK whatever on it & ask to see the manager, see what he has to say. Ha !
