Anyone else revisiting this brilliant series on its repeat showing? Edgar Reitz is a genius IMO.

No, no, I promise you it gets better the minute his extended circle of friends becomes established (we loved Lucie and Eduard too). You have to stay with it for Fraulein Cerphal, and Evelyne and Ansgar, and also Reinhard...and Helga, and Schnusschen.
I find Hermann a royal PITA in the initial episodes too. And, alas, his "great love" the miserable sod Clarissa also. But the rest of the gang are just so interesting/moving.
And, of course, you might be doing the midnight shift a bit over the next few weeks Pamina

I quite enjoyed the first one but kept missing the episodes so only saw a fraction.

Same again this time but what I see is really involving. I miss the whole village setting though, with Maria and all.
