DR WHO TONIGHT!

Lonelymum · 18/06/2005 16:12

This is a small emergency in the Lonelymum household! Is anyone able to record tonight's episode of Dr Who and send it to me? I will pay whatever costs are incurred. Ds1 has gone to a scout sleepover and is missing tonight's episode (which is the last). We said we would record it for him but our VCR isn't working. I know some may say he should be able to go without one episode, but he is such a fan, he was scared to be going away for his first night camping tonight, and it is his birthday on Tuesday. I really don't want to let him down.

Just out of interest, what is the youngest age you think should be watching this?

My video is broken so can't help I'm afraid.

Have you got Freeview? - it is repeated a few times on there.

It's on BBC3 at 10.50 tonight and 7pm tomorrow. Sorry, I can't help otherwise, but I sympathise. Ds1 has been counting down the days to all those daleks since last Saturday!

? my almost four year old has watched it with me. whats wrong with a littleun watching it?

Stitch, not seen it but just wondered if it was a bit scarey and therefore what age is it suitable for? I remember being quite scared of Daleks as a kid and I was probably over 6.

My ds1 is 9 on Tuesday and really enjoys it but my ds2 is 7 and finds it too scary - he hides upstairs or outside for the duration! I think it is a bit to do with the sensitivity of the child. My two younger ones watch it, in that they are in the room when it is on, but it is meaningless to them - I hope!

No knight in shining armour then? I am trying to contact my family but I think they must be out.

Gobbledigook - Fear Guide might help. Panel of children who have rated the episodes and details of the ages of the kids.

well, my kids either dont understand it, or are completely fearless. have just realised that my two year old has watched it too! in fact she is more concerned about the monsters in star trek than anything else. and i think thats just coz by the time she was born, i was no longer a trekkie.

Jura and Munz, I am sooooooooooo grateful you have responded. I am having kittens here ringing round the family and no-one is in! Not surprising really given the weather.

I would soooooo appreciate it if you could manage it for me. Plus anyone else who can help, in case it doesn't work for Jura and Munz, I would really appreciate it.

Stop Press! My MIL has been tracked down and has said she will record it for ds1 but I would be grateful if some Mners could still record it too as my MIL is not the most technologically capable woman. She is going to check afterwards to see if it has worked, and I will post again then.

Thanks guys! My MIL has rung up to say she got a recording, but I want to say thank you ever so much for the offers. I hope nobody put themselves out too much to do it, but hey you can always watch it again yourselves! My dh thought I was mad to ask, but I knew you lot would come through for me! You are fantastic - all of you!

BTW, I didn't really see much of the episode as I was busy keeping dd and ds3 quiet while dh watched, but I want to assure you all that David Tennant is going to make a fab Doctor - I can't wait!

I didn't think i'd like a northern doc, in fact I moaned big style about it to my DH (he's northern) but now I think the part was written for CE. he's fab.

I hope David Tennant is up to the job cos he has a VERY hard act to follow. CE played the Doctor to perfection (and he's sexy too!). What will I do on saturday without my fix?

This series has been absolutely stunning, great writing, wonderful acting and effects worthy of any Hollywood movie. Dh is already saving up for the dvd boxed set which comes out just before my birthday! Lucky he's not the jealous type as he knows I'm madly in love with CE. The picture stuck on the fridge is a bit of a clue.

Totally agree, pixel. We're all gutted this series is over in our home.

I'm not sure DH will survive without Doctor Who -he's completely addicted. It has been totally brilliant though - I didn't expect to love it but I did.
