Jeremy Kyle....sure it has been said before but

I have just had my second baby and once a week (and really once a week only!) I get a break when my DS is at playgroup and my DD sleeps (My DD sleeps more than once a week but it only coinsides with playgroup once a week!)

Now there are a whole host of things I could do in that precious free time. Read and expand my mind, housework, phone a friend, sleep etc. But no, I find myself inexplicably drawn into the weird and wonderful world of the Jeremy Kyle show

I have never watched it before and would previously have scoffed at such an unsavoury way to spend my time. Moi? A university educated, Tolstoy reading, independent women!

The truth is I have a burning question. Is he a direct, honest talking but caring kind of guy? Or an arrogant, self righteous idiot?

Jeremy Kyle, for example, is a twat!

I've only ever watched it -a- -lot- once, but I've always wondered are they real people or actors.

We had a cockerel called Jeremy Kyle because he was an arrogant bastard. We ate him for Sunday lunch when he started attacking everyone.

He is a twat. I suggest you switch to Homes Under the Hammer @ 10am on BBC1. It is strangely compulsive.

Jeremy Kyle is an arrogant, self righteous idiot who loves nothing more than to look down his nose and belittle people and constantly scream "this is my show its my name on the wall not yours" but it is very addicting to watch

i must admit its addictive trash on your days off unwell, same stuff everyday but i love it when all those useless junkies and alchys and stupid teenagers etc all get put in their place, its about time some1 told them, the people that go on the shows are complete wasters, am surprised someone with an eduction actually gives them the time of day, if anything, jeremy is the normal person, he just seems arrogant because if the just stepped back and said nothing, their wouldnt really be a show, more fool us for watching hahah, addictive trash

He is a twat. An annoying, rude, arrogant twat. Tis one of the many reasons why I don't turn that shite on in the mornings - I would hate for DD to ever, ever come to think that that is how people are meant to interact

He is truly the most vile man I have ever had the misfortune to see on TV come across. I caught a bit of it this morning at work, and had to rush from the room.

I can't even watch in amusement, it's just sad, tragic and exploitation and JK does this to make money.
He makes me feel sick.

Now Matthew Wright on the other channel I love.
I so would, even if he does have odd ears, he has the dirtiest laugh ever.
He's my wierd crush

Must check that out TheCrackFox

I watched Jeremy this afternoon. You would need a Stephen Hawking-esque-number to count the number of things that would have been a better way to spend my time. Strangely compelling though

I remember going through a phase of needing to watch trash TV when I was breastfeeding my DS. When I stopped feeding him I started reading trash decent literature instead

Must be the hormones. When I start feeling attracted to Kyle it is time to stop. I swore I wouldn't become a bored housewife when I had kids

He is vile and so are his 'guests' but it is compulsive viewing - if only to make me feel better about my own life.
Mugglewump - Matthew Wright? Are you sure? !!!

I agree you should turn over to ch5 and watch the Wright Stuff instead- though I have found myself disagreeing with him a bit this week.

On TWS this morning they were discussing whether or not the panel / audience would 'do' John and Edward from X Factor following the revelation that they are both still virgins. He was sniggering like a school boy about 'popping their cherries' .
It made Jeremy Kile look almost intelligent by comparison.

I missed TWS and a Jedward discussion?

Nooooo.

That's just not fair.
I'm sulking, and I bet I was picking that big log up from the bathroom floor at the time, whilst assuring Pam she will be having peas for lunch and helping Trevor on with his coat to go for an imaginary walk.
(I'm a cleaner in a Care Home, all names are made up, but this really did happen.)

Sometimes I hate working.
It makes me miss my favourite shows.

Matthew is lovely, though the fishing is a bit boring, the dirty laugh makes up for it.

Always a good game for toddlers when he's around too.
'pin the ears on the Matthew'
Really, he has such random ears.

J Kyle is an arrogant idiot who uses all the cliches in the book, I can't stand him, "put something on the end of it", all these sayings he has and the audience applaud as if he is some kind of god

I think watching him is the equivalent of the Victorian gentlefolk who popped into the local lunatic asylum to have a good laugh at the mentally ill people there.

I think whoever described the show as a "human form of bear baiting" was completely correct.

Report
muggglewump · 06/11/2009 17:46

Oh no, I wouldn't do Jedward, they are too young but maybe in a few years.........

Report
Monadami · 06/11/2009 18:35

I can't stand him. He makes out he's holier than though, but has the same flaws as anyone else.

He berates other people for their abnormal relationships, but when he was on the radio, he orchestrated a marriage between two strangers, who phoned in on his show for a competition. They got married and then divorced.

I'm sure he then went on to marry the woman who had entered this sham marriage, but I could be wrong, but there is some scandal about his model second wife.

He's a hypocritical, judgemental fool, who loves the sound of his own voice and his own celebrity status, he cares nothing for the imbecciles who frequent his show.
