Corrie headstone

This evening's Corrie showed Maria weeping at Liam's grave on the first anniversary of his death.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but having buried both my parents, we didn't lay the headstone until a year after death, as we were told all the earth needs time to settle or the stone will sink.

On that basis, how come Liam already has a Headstone? I know it's only fiction, but reality please!

I know, this will invalidate all the careful work they put into soap operas having terribly realistic attention to detail.

I was only saying this the other day as I popped round to my neighbour's house to carry on our illicit affair and heard the latest details of the drug-related murder in the house opposite, and the two latest teenage pregnancies up the road. On the way back, I stopped off for a quick cup of tea in the cafe a hundred yards up the road, even though I have a serviceable kettle, a box of teabags and milk in the fridge. I nodded in passing to the next-door-but-one's lad who has got his first job working as a mechanic in the local garage a stone's throw from his front door, and the girl from the house behind us who works as a model in the fashion studio next to it, also thirty seconds from her door.

And don't get me started on what Mrs Jones at no.32 has got under her patio.

I suppose if it was like real life, no-one would watch it....

I knew you were a writer, UQD, I didn't realise you were a script-writer

I'm no expert, but does Liam not share his brother's grave? The one who was married to Carla and died in a car crash? So the headstone was initially put up for him (more than a year ago) and simply re-inscribed to add Liam's name.

No, I hear you have to offer MP sexual favours AND be funny.

Apologies if anyone is offended by my being flippant on a thread where people have referred to their bereavements, though...

I'd offer Caroline Flint MP sexual favours. She is a phwoarghsome goddess. I don't think I could be funny with her, though. She seems very stern.

And it doesn't matter what the thread was about originally, UQD managed to shoehorn in a reference about his latest crush........

Not only that but they've got the date of his death wrong too (twas Friday October 10th last year NOT October 16th as is on the headstone currently)

Whatever next, October 22nd next year?

TV is always doing this.

In Buffy, there are at least two conflicting birth-dates given for Buffy.

And the convoluted nature of the exact date of Rose Tyler's birth in Doctor Who is a nightmare which I am happy to explain to anyone who would not be bored shitless by it. Reconciling all the different references in just two years of the programme is almost impossible!

Yes you may have a point Oldlady. Paul his brother, who the parents seem to have forgotten about probably does share a grave, hence the headstone.

Aha!

I'd forgotten their still-born son Paul, from April 2008.

And yes, the parents are surprisingly quiet about their other dead son.

(Wouldn't she be dreadful as your MIL? )

I'm assuming the actress that plays Maria is pregnant in real life - as they're doing the old soap thing of having her holding something in front of her stomach all the time. So far we've had: cushion, bunch of flowers, kettle, christening outfit and magazine.

I was thinking the same there is liam, his brother paul and baby son paul in the same grave. Also wasnt the grave near a wall i even think on a slope not next to a path and bench!

It is funny how the parents dont mention either paul that is also dead but i guess that soaps.

She's due this month; filming will have been a few weeks ago, but I guess Maria will be vanishing soon.

I don't get why Maria lets her PIL make out that Liam was such a saint - has she ever told them that he was shagging having a relationship with his brother's widow?
