Anyone watching or am I on my own?

I love NS's programmes and his relaxed style of presenting.

I am watching purely for forbidden pleasure

You are not alone!

I'm watching this for the second time having come across it on BBC HD, I think England got it first.

Yummy, but if he could just come to my house and cook it too!

He is the only cookery presenter that I really enjoy watching. His recipes are yum but I can't find a book associated with this series.

He is such a love. Those pork and anchovy meat balls looked good. I bet there will an accompanying book out for Christmas Mollie.

I love his food but can't bear watching him - its like he's gone all nigella.

I watched one of the Suppers programmes last night. Not sure when it was on originally.

I really like him. He looks a bit Alan Bennett to me - sort of comforting and gentle.

I made one of the suggestions for dinner tonight - pork chops and apples in cider. YUM!

The dvd is out next month here. Can't find any info on a book.

What do you mean "all Nigella" I haven't seen him wearing tight fitting tops, eating with his fingers or diving into the fridge in his dressing gown in the middle of the night. Suppose there is always next week's programme .

His latest book is Tender (Volume One) - looks lovely. Agree I love his food and his writing but find him irritating to watch lately - I'm finding the faked up "notes" by a graphic designer annoying too

I think it's the shooting style that's a bit overstylised and Nigella-ish - all that zooming in for an extreme close up on the food (going in and out of focus for a second).

I am undergoing a food epiphany at the moment at the hands of Nigel Slaters Real Fast Food book which is just fantastic. I have already revolutionised my jacket spuds (cook them on a metal skewer - this allows the heat to transfer right through the centre for lovely fluffiness).

TsarChasm - yes, you're right there is a touch of the Alan Bennetts about him - I love love love AB and love Nigel..I was starving watching him make the honey and lemon chicken things - I told dh I wanted to live with Nigel...

faked notes by designer are VERY annoying - I hated it in the Jamie Oliver thing too..

Is he a 'confirmed bachelor'? DH wants to know...

Report
MollieO · 07/10/2009 22:09

I thought he was quite open about being a confirmed bachelor. Why is your dh so keen to know?

i love his recipes and was trying to find the inevitable book to accompany the programme... but i don't think there is one! However recipes do seem to be available via the BBC Dig It Website...

I too love his books but can't watch him - he just makes me cringe and he's so creepy

I think his partner might be the photographer Jonathan Lovekin who photographs for all his books/articles - does anyone know - am I right?

I haven't been watching him but his new book is great.
We have been eating something from it every night, it's all been delicious.

I love Nigel, the food, and the whole look of the show (apart from the irritating notebook thing, with it's twee underlinigs and exclamation marks: "mix well - with hands!"). It's kitchenware porn. I particularly covet his lovely retro numbered pudding basins - has anyone else noticed them?

I think Nigel actually did that whole 'love the food' thing before Nigella. His first series - Real Food - must be at least 10 years old and is sometimes on UK Food. Nigella is a guest on there in one episode so it's before any of her programmes. And throughout the series Nigel is shown enjoying lovely gooey food and talking lovingly about it. Nigella got it from him rather than the other way round!

Yes Nigel was the original Nigella and she guested on his show and nicked it off him!

Has anyone read Toast, his ab? Fabulous.
