Where did the IVF consultant come from? Did she appear in last series? oh she is called Edith, I am clearly not as upto date with this as i thought

She wasn't in the last series, she's his ex girlfriend from med school.

Me and DW thnk there second baby has not been spotted on the scan and there will be a medical malpractice case against the female doctor with Dr Martin as a conflicted witness betwen his two former lovers and with a direct interest in the twins who he thinks he is father of but will turn out not to be.

This is TV after all. .

Baby - singular - will be the result of a post Doc Martin break-up hook-up but DM will have bonded with the bump & will be devastated but publicly stoical when the truth emerges - except in the presence of his aunt who divines his true feeling. He will, of course, deliver the baby in a remote Cornish cave.

Hope for DM's sake there is no blood during the birth process.

Mind you women in these sort of series usually seems to not bother taking their tights or undergarments off to give birth. They don't seem to tell their DH/DP to get lost, or say 'never ever come near me again' or dig ther finger nails in his forearm to the point he nearly faints with the pain either. Oh happy memories.
