DH has just called it Wuthering Shite, and I'm afraid I have to agree. As a huge fan of the book, in fairness they've stuck more closely to the story than many adaptations. But how have they managed to get such fantastic quality actors giving us such a bewildering range of accents? We've had a bit of Yorkshire crossed with Corrie crossed at one point with a dabble of Geordie. And I thought Juliette Binoche and her "Eethcleef" was bad ...

LOL at your DH, Verygreen. I hate the book as well, though.

I have in fact found the TV version quite entertaining tonight, though Cathy annoys me as she looks as if she's just dropped out of the Boden catalogue.

I haven't read the book yet but intend to

Didn't find the first 20 minutes particularly promising but it improved once the narrative got going. Not as wild and out of control as I recalled from the book.

lol at Cathy being from a Boden catalogue

Imo it's been very well done. Real understanding of all the principal characters; didn't want to smack any of them. Best adaptation I've seen.

Report
Thequeensfool · 31/08/2009 22:34

It's the only adaption I've seen. I really loved it, thought it was brilliantly done. It's made me want to go and read the book again now!

I thought it was surprisingly good.
Excellent casting.

Brilliant. I thought the casting was really good, especially Heatcliff.

Tom Hardy played bad, mad, mean Freddie in Martina Cole's The Take where he often had a menacing glint in his eye which in my opinion makes him look very hot (swoon) so I was really pleased that he used it quite a lot in this programme too.

Sorry I was disappointed by the conclusion - it seemed too trite and not dark enough.
