poorbuthappy Sun 30-Aug-09 21:10:41

dietstartstomorrow Sun 30-Aug-09 21:27:14

oh I wanted to see this.

Why don't they have an ITV + 1 angry

Thequeensfool Sun 30-Aug-09 22:35:32

Oh I thought it was fantastic! Can't wait for part two tomorrow.

emkana Sun 30-Aug-09 22:37:31

I thought it was great, was surprised really!

DH has just called it Wuthering Shite, and I'm afraid I have to agree. As a huge fan of the book, in fairness they've stuck more closely to the story than many adaptations. But how have they managed to get such fantastic quality actors giving us such a bewildering range of accents? We've had a bit of Yorkshire crossed with Corrie crossed at one point with a dabble of Geordie. And I thought Juliette Binoche and her "Eethcleef" was bad ...

LadyHooHa Sun 30-Aug-09 22:41:29

LOL at your DH, Verygreen. I hate the book as well, though.

I have in fact found the TV version quite entertaining tonight, though Cathy annoys me as she looks as if she's just dropped out of the Boden catalogue.

heathcliff - gorgeous man ,could kiss him all day !!!!

blissa Mon 31-Aug-09 17:02:16

I enjoyed this last night and looking forward to part 2 tonight.

I haven't read the book yet but intend to

LIZS Mon 31-Aug-09 19:58:26

Didn't find the first 20 minutes particularly promising but it improved once the narrative got going. Not as wild and out of control as I recalled from the book.

Corporalcornsilk Mon 31-Aug-09 20:28:53

lol at Cathy being from a Boden catalogue grin

sherby Mon 31-Aug-09 20:30:57

oh for gods sake

didn't realise it was in two parts have got it recording now angry

Heated Mon 31-Aug-09 22:31:08

Imo it's been very well done. Real understanding of all the principal characters; didn't want to smack any of them. Best adaptation I've seen.

Thequeensfool Mon 31-Aug-09 22:34:58

It's the only adaption I've seen. I really loved it, thought it was brilliantly done. It's made me want to go and read the book again now!

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Nancy66 Mon 31-Aug-09 22:55:19

Was it me or was Cathy cross eyed?

madameDefarge Mon 31-Aug-09 22:58:26

Tom Hardy. That is all I have to say <<swoon>>

mrsruffallo Mon 31-Aug-09 23:06:02

I thought it was surprisingly good.
Excellent casting.

mammyknowsbest Tue 01-Sep-09 00:06:46

Brilliant. I thought the casting was really good, especially Heatcliff.

Tom Hardy played bad, mad, mean Freddie in Martina Cole's The Take where he often had a menacing glint in his eye which in my opinion makes him look very hot (swoon) so I was really pleased that he used it quite a lot in this programme too. grin

LIZS Tue 01-Sep-09 10:11:20

Sorry I was disappointed by the conclusion - it seemed too trite and not dark enough.
