bad hygiene on Come Dine With Me

I'm afraid I have to have a rant about bad hygiene on "Come Dine with Me". Some people taste whatever's cooking in the pan with a spoon, then put it straight back in the pan - yuck! Last week this guy took a big mouthful from the spoon, then licked it again and put it back in the pan!! And some of them can be right food snobs!! Rant over

Oh that's not the worst I've seen! Cheese "warming" in bloke's trouser pocket anyone?

I can't watch when they're handling raw chicken and then open cupboard doors, handle crockery etc without washing their hands.

Very watchable though isn't it?

did you not see the lady who tried several times to make a meringue, about 4-5 attempts she really wasn't happy and had run out of eggs, so she took her orignal attempt out of the bin and served that!!!!!

Yuck

Stinkyfeet - I didn't see that one, how disgusting!! hocuspontas - yes, that's a particular hate of mine - I guess I'm maybe too far the other way, love my anti-bac spray and am very careful with raw meat!! Yes, it is very watchable, I love it, particulary the commentary!!

I also saw one where the bloke took a tray out of the oven and rested it on top of the bin!

I love watching this.

I was going to start a thread on the ones that were on Thursday, in the first episode I was shocked at the reactions for when the diners found out it would be an alcohol free night due to the hostess religious beliefs and practices. One of the guys was a bit out of line IMO and I was muttering "wanker" in my head. Though later in his show, he did redeem himself by cooking her a non alcoholic version of a dessert he was making.

But - point - is it a social sin not to serve alcohol to people who come for dinner? If we had people for dinner, I dont know if I'd serve alcohol, not for religious reasons but 'cause I dont drink much myself.

i have to admit to finding it wierd at mils when they dont offer me a drink in the evenings
its the family you come from i think
my parents always have a drink in the evening and always offer wine with dinner to guests so i do tge same
dh is teetotal and his parents hardly drink

therexwas one episode though where a guest said sge didnt remember past tbe starter due to too much booze and i did think what a waste of a meal and poor host although possibly their fault for giving too much?

I tend to get a bottle of wine in if we have the PIL's for dinner, but thats because I'm trying to be a lickarsey DIL it would totally slip my mind to get alcohol in if friends were coming for dinner

I still ROFL about the woman who went off after her starter and fell asleep, leaving the guests to cook the main course!

i dont think i saw that one!

so if friends with kids invite me round with my kids for sunday lunch i always take a bottle as a gift, is that odd do you think?

They scored her low as well because they had no alcohol. And she'd cooked about 17 dishes but because none of them were meat it 'lacked something'. Not very adventurous last week were they?

there was a vegan a while a go who clearly served all vegan food, but she wasn't judge down for it, she was more judged for being pushy about trying to change peoples views about meat

no objections with people bringing their own wine at all, just it would be the kind of thing I'd forget to buy
