You think you know and love someone. Then suddenly, from out of the blue, they announce that they've never heard of Spaced.

I've been married to DH for 18 years and last night he said that he'd never heard of Spaced. There was something on tv about funniest characters or series and the talked about Spaced. I said something like "That was such genius, we should get the DVD", and he said "What is it? I've never seen it."

Obviously marriages have crumbled under lesser stress, but I am fighting the good fight and ordering both series today so I can have a good laugh to educate DH.

I blame myself, how could I be so out of touch with the state of my marriage that I didn't know about this.

Bran, darling, I'm so sorry. Take things slowly, and there may be a chance of making it all work...but really, I think you'd be better off with a clean break.

Pack his bags NOW.

OMG, I have fallen through to a parallel universe where Spaced was never made. What a bleak and grey universe this must be.

At least there is MN here.

Never heard of Spaced??

Thank goodness for MI. Shouldn't I at least let him see the DVD first? Or should I just take them with me and watch them alone?

Would be a deal breaker for me - he'd be out the door lol

Luckily DP and I are wannabe Tim Bisleys and Daisy Steiners!

I'd pack his bags. Spaced is the only comedy in the last 20 years worth watching! (Apart from all the others I love as well)

When was it made? If recently then no wonder I've not seen it.

But it cant have been made recently as your and your dh would presumably have watched it together in last 18 years

I think you are all being a bit tough on him. He only said that he hadn't heard of it, which may be fixable. If he had said that he didn't like it then obviously he would be out on his arse straightaway.

Right, it was made in 1999 - so surely you watched it together.

It was rubbish - don't find Pegg funny at all.

I have vague recollection of Daisy woman but not the name Spaced.
I am sooo cool .

Get the box set out then bran - an excuse to watch the whole thing again!!

Me and DP did this a few weeks ago,and actually tried to spot all the movie/tv references and wrote....them.....down. How sad!

Spaced was fantastic, especially Marsha.

I thought we had watched it together Laurie, but he says not. I remember discussing it at the time. Now I wonder whether I might have been at it with work colleagues behind DH's back and supressed the memory of it through guilt.

He was away a lot around that time, commuting back and forward between London and Berlin so I may have been starved of the opportunity to share TV experiences. Not that that excuses my behaviour in any way. I'm sure it's mostly his fault though, for instance he could have asked me to record it and wait for him to come home at the weekends.

It's OK for people in the wrong age group not to have heard of it, but I'd be suspicious of someone of my generation who hadn't. Friends who had the poor judgement to be out of the country at the time or born too late have long since been bought copies.

I named my first born after Ms Steiner.
I fully intend to name future dog 'Colin' - "dance Colin dance!!"

Watch it with DH under control conditions - if he doesn't wee himself slightly due to hysterical laughter then consult a member of the legal profession.

I am a bit confused as to how you hid your Spaced- watching from him. And why?

You selfish woman, you must have watched Spaced behind your DH's back and not intorduced him to it!!!

Just been on the David Walliam's thread and remembered him playing a transexual performance artist called Vulva on Spaced.
