Reruns on BBC3 - what "old" programmes do you want to see?

We're abroad, and getting a satellite dish/Sky would cost a fortune in our new house. We get BBC1 and 2, plus local channels (who show a lot of UK and American stuff with local subtitles).

Our digital TV provider has recently added BBC3 and 4 to the offering (and Cbeebies etc) which is great. So there are some great comedy programmes on, but DH seems to record mammoth collections of Batman and the Avengers.

If they have to show "old" stuff, why can't we have some Poldark, or Little House on the Prairie? Hey, I'd like to see the Waltons or something, or Blakes 7!

What would you like to see brought back?

Joking Apart, with Robert Bathurst - made me laugh out loud as I recall.

Oh, and The Partridge Family!!

Someone at work recommended the original book to me. I remember it being on, but i don't think i watched it all the way through. Thinking about it, I'd love to see To Serve them All My Days again. I used to have a thing about John Duttine in my (extreme) youth....

Tutti Frutti with Emma Thompson and Robbie Coltrane. Only repeated once I believe but will be coming out on DVD soon

Used to watch an Australian Soap with my Gran, based during the war I thin? The Sullivans was it?

smugmumofboys Thu 11-Jun-09 21:53:10

There was series in possibly the early 80s called the Nightmare Man. I watched it at my Grandparents. It was wildly inappropriate and scared the bejeezus out of me. I'd love to see that again. grin

Portofino Thu 11-Jun-09 21:55:33

The Sullivans! God that takes me back! It used to be on early afternoon, after Rainbow, Pipkins and Crown Court. I was ill a lot as a child.....

wheresclaire Thu 11-Jun-09 21:58:42

Me too Porto!!! And that programme with the lady dancing in the fire, oh you know....come on....

Portofino Thu 11-Jun-09 22:00:10

Tales of the Unexpected! I'm humming the tune now.....

wheresclaire Thu 11-Jun-09 22:01:46

Portofino Thu 11-Jun-09 22:08:33

Yep! Shame I am not quite as svelte as the original grin

This thread is making me feel old. I bet there are some mum's on here who have no idea what we are talking about.

TsarChasm Thu 11-Jun-09 22:19:30

Oh yes agree Little House and the Waltons...<tissues on standby>

I sure I caught a bit of Poldark on tv a couple of days ago though...

We used to like The Preston Front - they never repeated it afaik. Also I liked Fist of Fun.

wheresclaire Thu 11-Jun-09 22:24:40

What was that boating soap on a sunday night? "Always there, your love is always there..."

TsarChasm Thu 11-Jun-09 22:28:17

Howards Way?

wheresclaire Thu 11-Jun-09 22:30:12

yes thats it. Did I like it or was it all that was on on a Sunday night? Had that "cat" woman in it.
