Why has my sky box just turned itself off?

And, no, I have not sat on the remote. Checked already.

It has turned off as in on standby, red button and wont turn back on again.

Not that I was watching anything particularly interesting, just annoying that I have no crap to flick through now.

pull the power supply out leave it for 30 seconds then plug back in. reset it and try if it works.

Ours does that every now and then. We think the wire at the back comes loose or something because once it would not come back on until dh played around with the wire. Most of the time it comes back on after a few minutes.

ooh i would have said count to ten then plug it back in, or smack it really hard, frustration never works for me but it may work for you

DifferentID, thank you for fixing my tele. turned it off, then on again. And now I have that stupid annoying man telling me if I turn onto stand-by I could power birmingham for a whole year...why do I give a toss about birmingham, what about my power?

I know i can do it. But I can do most things without his help. Its good for our relationship for him to think there is something I cannot do without him! technology is one of those things.

Good!

Go and do something constructive.

We made our own entertainment in my day.

YAY, some mindless nonsense, rather than fuzzy screen . Not sure why it was so important but its that addictive thing isn't it. Must. Have. Tele.

Orm - I am MN'ing...is that constructive? I could just do that, but I don't want the quiet and I can't be assed to go and sort out music.

Is the auto standby on?

If it's not being used it will switch itself off.

Otherwise try rebooting it as differentID suggests. Our old box used to freeze (and then finally the hard drive blew but let's hope that doesn't happen to yours).

Side - by 'not being used' to you mean I might not have changed the channel for half hour?

I think they may be fuelling my mine midlife crisis. Am playing all their albums very loud (even DS#1 is telling me to turn it down) and wearing skinny jeans and short skirts. Quite tragic really

LOL Pavlov I dunno

I'm not exactly sure when it goes onto standby as DH drives me bonkers with his itchy remote control finger flicking through channels! Ours is never on one channel for long!
