No atmosphere, rubbish camera angles, 3rd rate news/people talking even more vacuously than usual.

They've started the coverage too early, is the problem, so they don't have enough quality people to fill all the time. I've been with it for an hour, but doing other stuff at the same time. I imagine it will get better from 4pm, when BBC1 starts broadcasting it too - I hope it will be more structured.

Oh and no captions.

The BBC cover royal occasions so well, I'm astonished they're so bad now. If CNN were on freeview I'd be tuned in there.

CrushaGrape, I'm doing other stuff too, but I was expecting something a bit more atmospheric. And I'd like to know who the talking heads are.

i might turn it off for the next 45 mins. Does anyone know, is Sopel doing all the coverage, or can we expect Dimbleby from 4pm?

Wasn't June Sarpong annoying? I can't get my head around her; I don't know why. Is she considered a political pundit now because she used to date David Lammy or something?

Who are these people coming down the steps? The chap with the braid and the old lady? I want a man with a nice voice saying "Oh and here come xx and xx, she's looking well for her years. Last seen doing something or other somewhere" and stuff like that. Instead I get some screechy lady babbling speculatively and saying they've all been working very hard.

I stopped listening to Sarpong. She's not worth it.

Ah now, men in elaborate headdresses dancing in the sun... that's more like it - we could have had quite a lot of that before.

Thank you. Can I listen to them or do I have to listen to Babbly-Head?

Ah, it's Huw Edwards and Matt Frei from 4. Shame Channel 4 isn't doing coverage too; they're generally better at American issues than the Beeb, I feel.

I know what you mean about it being a bit feeble that they don't point out who the people arriving are. So many of the faces look familiar, but I'm not au fait enough with America's great and good to put names to all of them.
