The american version of The Office was on last night, and guess what

It was surprisingly good! Toned down a lot, and the David Brent character was much less OTT, and imho better for it. The die hard office fans I know all hated it though.

Couldn't understand why they made an American version though. We get American sitcoms here not re-made especially for us.

Never guessed that it would be good. I hate cringing, so might have enjoyed it more that the (lovely) original. Presume it's not on terrestrial?

I was expecting it to be awful. It was less cringey, without being totally blanded out. Less big laughs though too, but one or two excellent new bits.
I haven't seen any reviews yet though, so I don't know what the americans made of it - although the original on BBC america was a big cult success.
