Anyone else finding comic relief heartbreaking?

Nemo I know, but its just horrific - those kids whose parents had died...

I don't want to give them money - I just wanted to bundle them up and take them home with me

And I am not a soppy soft kind of person.

I have become emotionally incontinent and only been watching for the last hour!

I have no money to give. Really and truly don't. Have a serious overdraft to pay back.

So I can't watch.

We have no income at the moment - haven't done since November - but we still gave a token amount for the nursery comic relief collection.

I give time and goods instead. I do volunteer work for Legal Aid and instead of selling stuff on Ebay we give it to Oxfam. I support all of us on a very meagre salary.

i agree with wantong to bundle them up etc and its good to do ur bit in anyway poss not just money but time etc, i know tho that if it was just comedy etc a lot of ppl wouldnt bother..not saying u lot per se.lol

I watch the clips to support the whole thing. The way I see it is that if no one watched the programme Comic Relief and Red Nose Day would stop happening, And that can't be good ever. The clips are heart breaking and I do spend my time upset over them, and then chuckling at the comic btits too.

I'd like to watch the funny bits on Comic Relief but watching all those poor kids is so upsetting I keep having to switch channels!
I know if I watch it it'll keep me awake all night.
I wonder how many other people have switched off feeling the same.
And there's bog all else on the telly!!!

Me too, combination of giggling and floods of tears. It's heart breaking. Ds (age 6 who some of you might know is doing a sponsored bike ride tomorrow to raise money) stayed up to watch a bit of the programme. When the clips about where the money goes came on he said 'We could do more mummy' he wants to go to Africa to help them.

I also desperately want to do more. Money is really tight but I want to be able to make a difference. I'm going to look into volunteering.

Ds was sponsered to have his nose red today and made £10 , he is only 17mths
We have also added money to that ourselves and we dont have a lot but i have given what we can..thats all they ask really.

We had a phone call from dd's school today and of course immediately feared the worst, but they wanted to know if she was allowed to give quite a large sum of money. It turned out dd, without saying a word to us, had taken her birthday money to school to donate to comic relief.

I don't care if it sounds like I'm boasting because I am so so proud of her.

Like a lot of you I make myself watch the sad bits as I feel I owe it to those poor people. How can I be too pathetic to watch when they are LIVING it day after day? The strange thing is I start off laughing at the funny bits too, but as the evening wears on I don't find them as funny any more. I can never work out if it's because the sadness becomes so overwhelming, or because they put the most hilarious sketches on early when they know the youngsters will be able to watch.
