The Sex Education Show - babies

According to Anna Richardson, a baby needs changing four times a day. She's never met my baby! It was about 10 times when he was newborn. The teenagers trying to change nappies is pretty funny though.

Did she say what the times were when this happened? I stopped watching this after the birth episode, she really is naive for her age.

Can you imagine the idiot who looks at the baby "well, you've had your four changes what do you want?" With dts I doubled it so I can honestly say I have no idea how many I changed but I was glad when they were toilet-trained!

The birth episode annoyed me as well. She was just so "eww, it's a baby! And it's screaming, it's torture, blah blah blah".

The babies they used for nappy changing looked about 6 months, so probably needed a few more changes depending on circumstances.

How did they get the babies to lie so still on the bench for changing? And LOL at 'four times a day'.

I agree with Southeastastra. I like the show.

I sat on the sofa with DS1 (14) and I think he found it useful. We also managed to have a long conversation about contraception and sex by both staring straight ahead at the screen at all times. We have been using the programme like this for the last two weeks and last night he actually came downstairs at eight to remind me that it was on.

I wondered that too Noolia they all looked the age were they usually turn over the minute you try to change their nappy. It was a bit dangerous just leaving them there before the teenagers came in.

Ds only has a nappy change after each meal and before bed, but that's because he uses the potty regularly through the day. Lol at 5 years!

I found this part of the programme awful - I had to switch over. For a start, the babies were lined up on a high table, some of the babies right at the edge where they could have rolled off. Then we find out that instead of poo, their nappies have been filled with a "poo like substance", in some cases leaking and going right up their backs. Most of the babies were screaming, especially as the children changing their nappies had no idea what to do. How can someone do this to their child?

Oh, I never even noticed the bit about the poo like substance! Thought it was real. That's just a bit weird. I did think the babies seemed very upset as well.

ROFL. Didn't you wonder how they managed to get six babies to all have dirty nappies at the same time?

ds has a nappy change every 4 hours unless he poohs inbetween. i've always changed him that often even as a newborn. as he started sleeping through at 6 weeks from then on he only had about 4 nappies a day.

That's a good point fembear. My only excuse is that I was knitting and had the laptop on my knee with Mumsnet up at the same time. Multi-tasking isn't good for the concentration.
