DrHorrible Sat 20-Sep-08 19:08:48

That's odd - I did a "find" for Merlin in the telly addicts section and it found nothing hmm

DrHorrible Sat 20-Sep-08 20:26:05

I feel so let down

roisin Sat 20-Sep-08 20:32:19

Oh I enjoyed it. The boys loved it. ds2 was on the edge of his seat rigid with excitement!
Dh was a bit hmm

Am watching it now - is it made by the people who do Robin Hood?

DrHorrible Sat 20-Sep-08 20:45:41

Think so.

Did you know that the castle it is shot in is all real - so the huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge room with the throne is really real size grin <pointless fact after hearing the end of interview>

SciFiFan Sat 20-Sep-08 20:48:37

I have to say I enjoyed it too - it's light fluff but enjoyable light fluff. Plus my DS1 watched it and it's the first time we've started watching a series together. Roll on next Saturday night!

DrHorrible Sat 20-Sep-08 20:49:25

I did enjoy the family viewing aspect - was like dr who again

Imnotok Sat 20-Sep-08 20:49:52

My dc haven't sat that still and quiet since Dr who ended so I liked it grin.

DD was quite scared by 'Gwen' (as in Torchwood, not as in short for Guinevere hmmwtf?), or at least, by the scary version of her, and kept her fingers in here ears whenever she was on. Went down fairly well here, in general. I kept thinking - I bet they're re-using all the scenery and props from Robin Hood.

DrHorrible Sat 20-Sep-08 20:54:12

Oh yeah - wtf was that "people call me gwen" thing?? NO THEY DON'T!! No-one in history has ever called you Gwen!

JackieNo Sat 20-Sep-08 20:56:09

ANd was Guinevere originally Morgana's maid? I'm a bit hazy on the legend, but I don't remember that at all.

PuppyMonkey Sat 20-Sep-08 20:58:37

Camelot is a silly place - as Monty Python observed. grin

Thought it was ok myself. Bit humourless... could've done with a jokey evil villain.

Quite fancied Merlin. blush

JackieNo Sat 20-Sep-08 20:59:17

Have to say, I was a tad disappointed when he took his shirt off though.

cremolafoam Sat 20-Sep-08 21:07:09

ok only watched with dd (13) who wanted to see it.
Not unlike Robin Hood in which Marion sported a pair of Verbaudet purple suede boots the same as my own, I was happy to not at least 3 hopeless wardrobe malfunctions:
1- Merlin has red nailpolish on his thumb when rifling through the witches dressing table
2- when Merlin fell over in the market his boot soles had beautifully crafted synthetic soles without a mark on them
3- I'd recognise that John lewis fabric anywhere ( serfs headress)

cremolafoam Sat 20-Sep-08 21:07:59

PS where is the beautiful Chateau/schloss?

JackieNo Sat 20-Sep-08 21:22:40

BEt it's in Eastern Europe somewhere - that was where they filmed Robin Hood, wasn't it?

JackieNo Sat 20-Sep-08 21:24:07

Oh, it's in France apparently.

DrHorrible Sat 20-Sep-08 21:42:54

I noticed the shoes too!

Oblomov Sun 21-Sep-08 00:44:21

Dh and I thought it was fab.
Strictly then Merlin. Heaven.

Cappuccino Sun 21-Sep-08 07:54:41

can anyone tell me if it is scary? we were out last night so taped it

dd2 (3.10) is pretty unscareable compared to her quivery elder sister; is it v scary or not? where does it come on a scale between Dr Who scary (not suitable) or Sarah Jane Adventures scary? (not scary at all)
