Am I the ONLY sad bastard that thought Britain from the Air excellent?

Or whatever it was called.

Thrilling telly.

I loved it and let DS1 stay up to watch and learn. And Andrew Marr: you couldn't possibly fancy him (well, 'spect his wife does?) but his clipped public school vowels do something to me('Fleying through the clyds'...)

I enjoyed what I saw of it before dd woke up and threw a wobbler. It is recorded though so I look forward to the rest.

I couldn't give it my full attention but enjoyed what I saw. Andrew Marr is Scottish, you know. Doesn't sound it, I know.

Apparently Andrew Marr is strangely attractive and rather charismatic in RL...

Dh and I thought it was utterly brilliant!! Dh got verrrry excited when they showed the big sewage plant in Becton as he sometimes has to go there for work.

We too are worried about the lonesome man controlling all our electricity - what a stressful job

Yes, brilliant programme, was it a one-off or will it be on again?

Actually, I believe it was a one-off....

No: tis on again next week.

And there was summat else immediately after on BBC2 also - about London? dunno if it was a different thing entirely?

I recorded it to watch tonight - after DH watches New tricks.
Andrew Marr has one of those voices that I could listen to for hours

I found it all vaguely unsettling - what if it all goes wrong? It made me think about how dependent we are on so many things... Enjoyed the one about London on BBC2 after though.

Do you think 'electricity man' always wears a suit and tie to work? Not sure he neds to as seemed to be NOONE else in the whole place apart from him- agree it's a bit scary. Would have thought that Sky+ must have caused him a few headaches as he can't count on the advert breaks to flip his switches...

I felt like a trainspotter watching it, it was so NERDY...

mrsbabookaloo · 12/08/2008 13:41

Yes, but if everyone's watching sky plus and stopping it at different times, the problem is solved, as there is no surge: everyone finishes the porgramme, and therefore swtiches on the kettle at slightly different times.

I found it a bit sad how predictable we all are: watch Eastenders (why? it's so depressing), then have a cup of tea..!

But me and Dh did enjoy the programme.

Yes - we enjoyed it too (DH more than me). But I found the bits with the gps traces of things very pretty to look at .

There were a lot of men with bad teeth in helicopters though...

I found it really interesting, so much stuff I'd never thought about before. Quite a shock to realise how dependent on all this complicated infrastructure. dh and i also hoped the electricity man got paid lots! how awful to have to watch eastenders every day.

very good programme I particularly liked the coastguard highway men on the english channel
the guy who was in charge of the electricity surge issue seemed to get quite flustered which amused me and dh as firstly, it is something that happens everyday and is therefore totally predictable and so why did it seem to get him a bit hot and bothered and secondly, surely there is a computer that can do this job - see when there is an upsurge and source more electrcity. He just seemed a bit of a twit - sorry that sounds mean but considering the job I just thought there would be someone a lot more together.
