I always end up really getting into some obscure sport - well, one i don't know that wel.

Like power lifting or some sailing one where the sails are a bit shorter than the ones in the other race or some weird cycling thingy where they go slow, slow, quick quick slow.

Oh yay! Two weeks of watching sports I would never take an interest in normally: bring on the women's greco-roman wrestling and table tennis!

I do love a spectacle. What time are events going to be on? And what time is the opening ceremony on?

Absolutely! There's a girl from my year at Uni (I know her I do ) who's in the rowing. V.exciting.

I am! Since I'm awaiting the arrival of my baby and therefore doing sod all except sitting on the sofa anyway, it will be ace to get involved in all the random sport that I couldn't care less about the rest of the time.

Favourites are gymnastics, pole vault, and in the winter pretty much any ice skating.

Is the opening ceremony on in the evening (their time)? So it'll be lunchtime Friday.

I like the gymnastics and diving.

I don't know what the plan for the TV coverage is but I hope they don't show it all in the daytime - I only get to watch TV in the evenings!

I've got my eye on a couple of people I know vaguely who are competing...so women's javelin and rowing are firmly bookmarked in the Gizmo household.

The BBC1 coverage is from 1.55am until 4.30pm

i love the gymnastics, exciting for dd as she was there at the competition when the GB team was picked, so she "knows" all the gymnasts and has briefly spoken to them all.

Greece is always first, because that's where it all started.

The Aussie team are angry cos they are going to be near the end of the parade as the chinese name for Australia means that it comes near the end of their alphabet

Yes, I look forward to seeing our part in the Closing Ceremony. I wonder what we'll do, that really signifies the UK. I just bet there's some Pearly Kings and Queens in there somewhere!

Love it. Swimming a favourite, but just love seeing other sports getting more exposure than usual.
