I will probably get absolutely flamed for this but my 9 year old absolutely adores Friday Night Dinner - obviously don’t let them watch it if they don’t understand re bad language and not repeating things, but it’s pretty tame really and Ds loves Jim the creepy weird neighbour.

Mine would have loved it at that age as well. They used to love Black Books, Father Ted, and Mighty Boosh too.

Some Mothers Do Ave Em is basically an earlier version of Mr Bean. He might enjoy old episodes of Bewitched too.

There’s a few outdated attitudes in them that might need a conversation.

Old episodes of Tom and Jerry, from the 1940s? They’re constant slapstick, and the dvd’s have edited out the stuff that’s dated very badly (you know what I’m talking about)

I think you could probably get away with Father Ted too.

Yes she's ok with those old school cartoons, enjoyed pink panther too!

Most other suggestions will need to wait at least 4 years imo! She's very sheltered and only 7!!

My son loved Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody at that sort of age. Not sure if they're available now. Also, Simpsons, Top Gear and Father Ted. I loved Bewitched and the Monkees repeats in the 70s at that age. Also The Munsters! Very ancient the last 3, though!

I don’t know if she’d be a bit young to enjoy this, but Keeping Up Appearances perhaps? It’s all pretty tame and there’s plenty of slapstick humour.

Chucklevision is the best recommendation so far though. I still really enjoy watching it even though I’m in my thirties! There’s loads of episodes on YouTube.

I used to love watching Class Dismissed on CBBC with my dd!

Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse (Netflix) - it's animated but it's very funny. No idea how it got approved by Mattel - it takes the mickey out of Barbie but has a lot of heart. My boys loved it.

Sam & Cat (Netflix) - old Nickelodeon show with Ariana Grande - again more funny than you think it will be.

The Goes Wrong Show (BBC) - the Christmas episode will be a perfect intro - old school farce & slapstick.

Count Arthur Strong (BBC) - from the writer of IT Crowd, Father Ted etc but a bit more gentle and PG. Some episodes won't be suitable (e.g. the 'Misery' one) but there should be a lot she can watch.

Golden Girls - my sons (12 & 6) loved this when it was on during lockdown. I think they liked the idea of old ladies doing naughty things.
