I saw it when it was on BBC4. I'm sure they used to stay dressed in costume dramas!!

dh makes me laugh. He reckons there is always "lesbian action" in period dramas.......erm and it would appear he is usually right

Dh was glued to this last night! He normally falls asleep but he was just sat there with his gob open and a pillow over his lap.....

He is looking forward to the next installment, the dirty bugger

I think that has to be the rudest book I ever read!

wessexgirl · 15/12/2007 16:28

I read it when I was 14 - my parents got it from some book club, not (I think) realising what it was about. Makes me laugh to think of it lurking there on the shelf amidst all the Brontes and Dickenses.

Started flicking through it one day when bored - .

I was laughing and cringeing at parts of it. THe one bit that really made me laugh was when that old guy was trying to have sex with her, it was the comment about paying money not to 'have spent in me britches' or something like that. I couldnt stop lauging and all dh kept saying was 'i don't understand, what does he mean?' which made me laugh more.

he did know, by the way, in case anyone thinks 'what a gimp'

Don't you love the word "britches"-always makes me

Report
lazawreath · 15/12/2007 21:15

Dh came in earlier and i asked him if he had, at all, spent in his britches today.
He said no. Ha! A likely story.

sorry, just remembered another randomn thing that he said. When she took her clothes off in front of her boyfriend, his gob was practically on the floor and then he said 'oh, but she's got a bit of a big bush, she'll have to do something about that'
I wonder if they had brazillians those days?
