The Chestnut Man - Netflix (Scandi Noir - a bit like The Bridge)

set in Denmark, a female and male cop are put together (against her will initially) to solve some gruesome murders.
It's very good, has a Halloween horror type feel to it but is not too grizzly for those of you who are a bit squeamish (like me!)

This sounds ideal. Where would I find it (UK)?

Sorry - literally says Netflix in the title! Can you tell it's been a long day already Grin

It's SOOO good!
I rarely watch TV but I devoured it!
I love all things Scandi so it was just perfect.

I really enjoyed this. Very tense and has a fantastic unexpected reveal.
Embarrassed to say I binged the whole series in one day Blush

Oh thanks for this I saw it pop up and wondered whether I should bother. Definitely giving it a go now!

About to start this tonight - sounds like an ideal Autumn evening watch

Started at lunchtime and I’m saving the last episode for tomorrow morning.

There have been some very tense moments when I’ve had to look away…

Makes me realise how much I’ve missed scandi noir, it’s been a while.

@1309username
"Started at lunchtime and I’m saving the last episode for tomorrow morning."

Surely you want to watch this by night when everything is silent and every tiny sound sends a shiver down your spine.

@SilverTonguedDevil, oh come on. what are the chances of me not having nightmares about chestnuts tonight?

I started it but couldn't get into it at all. Turned it off halfway through the first episode

Some good reviews here. I've listed it on Netflix so might give it a go. It's been a while since anything on there has tempted me.

I’m watching and enjoying it so far. Are we allowed to discuss theories on here?

I’m hoping the big reveal mentioned upthread isn’t about the women detective and her “Dad”?

We are loving it too. Watching two episodes a night, last two tonight. Why are Scandi drama series so much more exciting than most of our UK dramas? I just sometimes feel I need a bit more conversation to clarify my understanding. We often replay a scene to check.

The past murders must somehow be linked to present day events. I do have a theory.

Then started The Valhalla Murders.

We’ve just finished it, very good! Did anyone notice that the policeman with the slightly dotty sister was the actor who played the father in The Killing?

I watched the first episode and was not hooked. Gave up. Not typical scandi noir.

FYI the lead actress, Danica Curcic, is also the lead on another scandi drama on Netflix called The Equinox.
It's about a graduation class that (almost all) disappears and it feels more supernatural than typical scandi noir.
I'm two episodes in and will probably stick with it but it's not as good as The Chestnut Man (then again very few series are).

Yes and I recognise her from wallander too, she played a cellist or a violinist i think. Sames faces do crop up again and again on scandi productions

I thought it was watchable, quite exciting in places but some giant holes in plot.
